Chapter 7 - THE PHOTO UNDER THE PILLOW
After his father’s funeral, Ryan returned home exhausted.
Before going to sleep, he found an old photograph underneath his pillow.
It showed Ryan as a child.
His father was standing beside him.
Ryan didn’t recognize the location.
On the back were six words:
“You weren’t supposed to remember this.”
Ryan called his mother.
She went silent when he described the picture.
Finally, she said:
“That photograph doesn’t exist anymore.”
Ryan asked why.
His mother explained that the picture had been taken on a night when Ryan almost drowned.
His father had saved him.
But Ryan had completely forgotten the incident.
That night, Ryan placed the photograph on his desk.
In the morning, it was gone.
He found it underneath his pillow again.
This time, there was something different.
His father was no longer looking at the camera.
