Chapter 5 - THE EXTRA PLATE

Daniel’s grandmother had one strange rule.
Whenever the family ate dinner, she always placed one extra plate on the table.
Nobody was allowed to remove it.
Daniel thought it was an old superstition.
After she died, the family stopped doing it.
Six months later, Daniel visited his parents for Thanksgiving.
His mother accidentally placed an extra plate on the table.
She immediately took it away.
That night, the family heard footsteps in the kitchen.
Daniel went downstairs.
The table was empty.
Except for one plate.
It had been placed in the exact spot where his grandmother used to sit.
The next morning, Daniel found an old family photograph.
His grandmother was sitting at the table.
Everyone was there.
But there was one empty chair beside her.

On the table was the same extra plate.
