Chapter 15 - THE WARNING

None of these people knew each other.

Their stories came from different towns, different families, and different generations.

Some were told by parents.

Some appeared in old newspaper articles.

Some were remembered only by the people who experienced them.

And every story had one thing in common.

The warning came first.

Sometimes it was a dream.

Sometimes a stranger.

Sometimes a sound.

Sometimes an object appearing where it shouldn’t.

Sometimes it was simply a feeling.

A feeling that said:

Wait.

Turn around.

Don’t go there.

Don’t open that door.

Don’t take that road.

Most people ignored those feelings.

Some didn’t.

And the people who listened often discovered something they could never explain.

Maybe these stories are nothing more than coincidence.

Maybe fear makes ordinary events seem supernatural.

Maybe old traditions survive because humans naturally search for meaning when something impossible happens.

But then there are the details.

The exact time.

The exact place.

The words spoken by a stranger who shouldn’t have known.

The photograph that shouldn’t exist.

The voice nobody else could hear.

Those are the details that keep these stories alive.

Because sometimes the question isn’t whether ghosts are real.

The question is much simpler.

What if, just once…

the warning was real?
