Chapter 7 - THE THREE KNOCKS
James lived alone in an old house.
At 2:17 AM, someone knocked on his front door.
Three times.
Knock. Knock. Knock.
James checked the security camera.
Nobody.
He waited.
Three more knocks.
He checked the back door.
Nothing.
Then the knocking came from upstairs.
Knock. Knock. Knock.
James froze.
He slowly climbed the stairs.
The sound came from his bedroom.
He opened the door.
Nothing.
Silence.
Then three knocks came from downstairs.
James ran back to the security camera.
Still nobody.
He stayed awake until sunrise.
The next morning, he watched the recordings.
At exactly 2:17 AM, the camera showed James standing outside his own front door.
He was knocking.
Three times.
But James knew where he had been.
He had been upstairs.
He watched the footage again.
This time he noticed something behind himself.
Someone was standing on the sidewalk.
