Chapter 10 - THE HOUSE NUMBER

Every morning, Olivia drove past the same house.

Number 214.

She had never thought about it.

Until one morning, she noticed something strange.

The number had changed.

214

had become

216.

The next day it was back to 214.

She assumed someone was replacing the sign.

Then, one evening, Olivia got lost.

She turned down a street she didn’t recognize.

And saw house number 214.

The house looked exactly like hers.

Same front porch.

Same curtains.

Same mailbox.

Even the same flowerpot beside the door.

Olivia stopped her car.

A woman stepped outside.

Olivia nearly screamed.

The woman looked exactly like her.

Same face.

Same hair.

Same clothes.

The woman stared at Olivia.

Then slowly raised one finger to her lips.

“Shhh.”

Olivia drove away.

The next morning, she looked at her own house number.

It had changed.

May you like

216.
