Chapter 3 - THE REFLECTION

Sarah noticed the problem at 11:42 PM.
She was brushing her teeth when she looked into the bathroom mirror.
Everything seemed normal.
Until she stopped moving.
Her reflection didn’t.
Sarah slowly raised her hand.
The woman in the mirror kept staring at her.
Sarah lowered her hand.
The reflection smiled.
She stepped backward.
The reflection stepped forward.
Sarah ran out of the bathroom and slammed the door.
She didn’t sleep that night.
The next morning, she called her landlord.
He told her the mirror had been there for more than twenty years.
Nobody had ever complained.
Sarah decided to remove it.
When she entered the bathroom, the mirror was gone.
Completely gone.
There was only an empty wall.
Sarah walked closer.
Someone had written four words on the wall.
DON’T LOOK BEHIND YOU.
She froze.
Her phone buzzed.
A photo had just arrived.
It showed Sarah standing in her bathroom the previous night.
But the photo had been taken from behind her.
Sarah slowly turned around.
Nobody was there.
She looked back at the phone.
The photograph had changed.
Now the woman in the picture was standing directly behind Sarah.
May you like
And smiling.
