Chapter 5 - THE LIGHT IN THE WINDOW

Laura noticed the light every night at exactly 10:13.

The house across the street had been empty for years.

Yet one upstairs window always came alive.

Same room.

Same time.

10:13 PM.

At first, Laura thought it was a timer.

Then she saw the shadow.

A person walked past the window.

Every night.

Laura called the police.

They searched the house.

No electricity.

No people.

No signs of anyone living there.

The officer told her it was probably a reflection.

Laura accepted that.

Until one night, the shadow stopped.

It stood directly in front of the window.

And appeared to look across the street.

Straight at Laura.

She closed the curtains.

Her phone immediately buzzed.

MOTION DETECTED — FRONT DOOR.

Laura opened the security camera.

Someone was standing outside her house.

She ran downstairs.

Looked through the peephole.

Nobody.

She checked the camera again.

The person was still there.

Then Laura noticed something.

The camera wasn’t showing the front door anymore.

It was showing her living room.

And someone was standing directly behind her.
