Chapter 8 - The Lie That Destroyed Everything

Nobody looked at anyone the same way anymore.

Trust disappeared.

Fear replaced it.

Arthur looked at Elara.

“Who did you recognize?”

She couldn’t answer.

Julian watched her carefully.

“You know something.”

Elara shook her head.

“I’m not sure.”

Victoria stepped closer.

“You are.”

“No.”

“Elara.”

“Tell us.”

She closed her eyes.

Then whispered:

“The voice sounded like…”

She stopped.

Because saying the name would change everything.

Arthur demanded:

“Like who?”

Elara looked toward Eleanor.

Everyone became silent.

Eleanor stepped back.

“No.”

“You think it was me?”

Elara immediately shook her head.

“I didn’t say that.”

“But you thought it.”

The tension became unbearable.

Then Julian spoke.

“Interesting.”

Everyone looked at him.

“You all suspect Eleanor.”

“But nobody asks why I was with her father that night.”

Arthur turned.

“Why were you there?”

Julian remained silent.

“Answer me.”

Finally, Julian spoke.

“Because your father asked me to meet him.”

Elara froze.

“For what?”

Julian looked at her.

“To expose the person destroying your family.”

Victoria frowned.

“But you never told anyone.”

Julian smiled bitterly.

“Because the moment I tried…”

“I was framed.”

Arthur stared at him.

“By who?”

Julian looked at the security camera above them.

“The same person who locked us inside this vault.”

Suddenly…

The vault door opened.

Everyone turned.

A man stood outside.

Someone nobody expected.

Someone who had been missing for years.

Arthur’s face lost all color.

“No…”

The man smiled.

May you like

“Hello, Arthur.”

“I’m surprised you remember me.”
