Chapter 10 - The Final Betrayal

Eleanor stood completely still.
Everyone stared at her.
“No.”
Her voice was barely audible.
“I didn’t do anything.”
Marcus walked closer.
“You always were good at pretending.”
Arthur stepped between them.
“Enough.”
Marcus laughed.
“You still protect her.”
“Even after everything.”
Arthur looked confused.
“What are you talking about?”
Marcus opened another file.
Inside were photographs.
Bank records.
Messages.
And one shocking document.
Elara picked it up.
Her hands began shaking.
“This…”
She looked at Eleanor.
“Mom?”
Eleanor’s eyes filled with tears.
“I can explain.”
Arthur looked devastated.
“Explain what?”
The room became silent.
Eleanor finally broke down.
“I didn’t want this to happen.”
Elara stepped back.
“Want what?”
Eleanor looked at her daughter.
“I wanted to protect you.”
“Then why were you meeting Julian’s enemies?”
Nobody moved.
Julian stared at her.
“So it was you.”
Eleanor cried.
“I had no choice.”
Arthur’s voice cracked.
“You betrayed me.”
“No.”
“I saved you.”
Everyone froze.
Because nobody understood.
Then Eleanor revealed the truth.
“The night your father died…”
She looked at Arthur.
“He wasn’t killed by Julian.”
“He was killed because he discovered the truth about you.”
Arthur went pale.
“What truth?”
Eleanor whispered:
“The documents you signed…”
“They weren’t forged.”
Arthur stepped back.
“What?”
“You really signed them.”
The room went silent.
Elara looked at her father.
And for the first time…
She wondered if the man she trusted her whole life…
