Chapter 12 - The Mother’s Confession
The recording continued.
The figure on the screen moved closer to Elara.
The face remained hidden.
But the voice was clear.
“Everything will be over soon.”
Elara began shaking.
She recognized that voice.
She had heard it her entire life.
“Mom…”
Eleanor immediately cried.
“No.”
“Please listen to me.”
Arthur stared at his wife.
“Tell us the truth.”
Eleanor covered her face.
“I never wanted anyone hurt.”
Julian laughed bitterly.
“But someone was.”
Eleanor looked at him.
“You don’t understand.”
“Your father was going to destroy everything.”
Arthur stepped forward.
“My father?”
“No.”
“Your father’s secrets.”
Eleanor looked at Elara.
“Your grandfather wasn’t the hero you believed he was.”
Elara shook her head.
“Stop.”
“He protected us.”
Eleanor’s eyes filled with tears.
“He destroyed people to build this family.”
“He ruined Marcus.”
“He ruined Julian’s family.”
“And he made me help him hide it.”
Marcus stared at her.
“So you finally admit it.”
Eleanor nodded.
“I was weak.”
Arthur looked devastated.
“You helped him?”
“I tried to fix what he broke.”
“And when I found out…”
She looked at Julian.
“I knew someone had to expose the truth.”
Elara whispered:
“Then why did you let me marry him?”
Eleanor cried.
“Because I thought Julian was dangerous.”
“But I was wrong.”
The room became silent.
Then Julian received a message.
He looked at his phone.
His expression changed instantly.
“What?”
Arthur noticed.
“What happened?”
Julian slowly raised his eyes.
“The person who attacked Elara…”
“Is still inside this house.”
