Chapter 14 - The Woman Who Never Died

Everyone rushed to the floor.
Glass shattered across the room.
Arthur protected Elara.
Julian ran toward the window.
But the attacker was already gone.
Police searched the property.
Minutes later…
They found a clue.
A photograph.
Old.
Faded.
And impossible.
Elara picked it up.
Her hands trembled.
Because the woman in the picture looked exactly like her.
Marcus whispered:
“Your mother.”
Elara stared.
“But she died.”
Eleanor looked away.
“She was supposed to.”
Everyone turned.
“What does that mean?”
Eleanor cried.
“I was told she was dead.”
“By who?”
She couldn’t answer.
Then the front doors opened.
A woman walked inside.
Everyone froze.
The entire room went silent.
Because the woman looked exactly like the photograph.
Older.
Tired.
But alive.
Elara couldn’t breathe.
The woman looked at her.
“My daughter…”
A single tear fell down her face.
“I’m sorry it took me this long.”
Elara stepped backward.
“No.”
“This isn’t real.”
The woman approached slowly.
“I never abandoned you.”
“I was forced to disappear.”
Arthur stared.
“Who forced you?”
The woman looked around the room.
Her eyes stopped on Marcus.
Then Eleanor.
Then Julian.
“The same person who destroyed this family.”
Elara whispered:
“Who?”
The woman’s expression turned cold.
“Your grandfather.”
Everyone froze.
Because the biggest secret of the Blackwood family…
Was finally coming to light.
But before she could explain…
The lights went out.
A scream echoed through the mansion.
May you like
And when the lights returned…
The woman was gone.
