Chapter 4 - The Man Richard Trusted
The photograph shook in Richard’s hand.
The person beside Lily’s brother was not a stranger.
It was Colin Dray.
Richard’s closest assistant.
The man who had worked beside him for eight years.
The man who knew every detail about Ethan’s medical condition.
Colin stared at the photo.
His face turned pale.
“That means nothing.”
Richard said nothing.
Lily looked at him.
“He told my family he wanted to help.”
“He said he knew doctors.”
“He said he could make my brother better.”
Richard’s jaw tightened.
“What happened?”
Lily swallowed.
“My brother got worse.”
Nobody spoke.
The silence became heavy.
Colin stepped forward.
“You’re listening to a child?”
Richard slowly turned toward him.
“No.”
“I’m listening to evidence.”
Colin’s expression changed.
For the first time, he looked afraid.
Then Ethan suddenly moved.
Everyone turned.
The little boy opened his eyes.
“Dad…”
Richard rushed to him.
“I’m here.”
Ethan’s voice was weak.
“There was a man…”
Richard leaned closer.
“What man?”
Ethan looked toward Colin.
His small finger lifted.
“That man.”
The entire airport froze.
Colin stepped backward.
“That’s impossible.”
Richard stood.
“No.”
“What’s impossible is that you thought nobody would find out.”
Security immediately surrounded Colin.
But before they could grab him…
The airport lights suddenly went out.
The terminal became dark.
People screamed.
Emergency alarms started flashing.
