The abandoned hospital became completely silent.
Richard stared at his brother.
“What did you just say?”
Thomas smiled.
“You really never knew.”
Richard’s fists tightened.
“Explain.”
Thomas walked closer.
“The research project didn’t begin with Ethan.”
“It began years earlier.”
Richard looked at Lily.
Then at the medical files.
“What are you talking about?”
Thomas answered calmly.
“Your son was not the first child.”
Richard felt cold.
“Who was?”
Thomas looked at Lily.
Her face changed.

Richard turned toward her.
“Lily?”
The girl’s eyes filled with tears.
“My brother.”
Richard froze.
Thomas continued.
“Your company created the technology.”
“Your family approved the funding.”
“But when something went wrong…”
“Everyone abandoned the project.”
Richard shook his head.
“That’s not true.”
Thomas laughed.
“You were too busy building an empire to notice the children paying the price.”
Richard looked at Lily.
The little girl who saved Ethan.
The little girl who lost her brother.
Then Lily spoke softly.
“My brother didn’t hate you.”
Richard looked at her.
“He didn’t?”
She shook her head.
“He just wanted someone to listen.”
Those words hurt more than any accusation.
Then Thomas pulled out a phone.
A video appeared.
It showed Colin.
Talking to someone.
Someone hidden.
Richard watched closely.
Then his face changed.
Because the person in the video was not Thomas.
Not Colin.
It was someone Richard trusted even more.
Someone standing behind him for years.
Someone who knew every password.
Every secret.
Every weakness.
The video ended.
Thomas looked at Richard.
“You thought you found the enemy.”
