Chapter 1 - The Girl Nobody Believed

The entire airport was watching a billionaire beg for help.
Richard Harrison had built companies that changed the world.
He had negotiated billion-dollar deals.
He had faced angry investors and powerful enemies.
But none of that mattered now.
His six-year-old son was lying on the cold marble floor of Boston Logan Airport.
And Richard could not save him.
“Ethan!”
His voice echoed through Gate B23.
The little boy’s body remained still.
His expensive wheelchair lay beside him.
The medical equipment attached to it flashed warnings that no ordinary person understood.
People stood in a circle around them.
Everyone was waiting.
Waiting for a doctor.
Waiting for security.
Waiting for someone else to act.
Then a little girl stepped forward.
She was wearing patched jeans.
Her purple backpack was held together with safety pins.
Her shoes were old.
Her clothes looked like they had survived years of hand-me-downs.
But her eyes were calm.
Focused.
“I can help him.”
Nobody listened.
The girl pushed through the crowd.
“I said I can help him.”
Richard’s assistant, Colin Dray, immediately blocked her.
“Little girl, step away.”
“This is not a game.”
The girl looked directly at Ethan.
“He doesn’t have time.”
Those words made Richard look up.
For the first time, someone was not treating Ethan like a billionaire’s son.
She was treating him like a child.
“Who are you?” Richard demanded.
The girl ignored the question.
She knelt beside Ethan.
She placed her small hand near his shoulder.
Then she looked at the medical monitor.
Everyone expected her to panic.
She didn’t.
Instead, she whispered something that made the closest security guard freeze.
“The machine isn’t the problem.”
Richard stared at her.
“What did you say?”
The girl looked at the wheelchair.
“Someone changed his settings.”
The airport became silent.
Colin stepped forward angrily.
“That’s impossible.”
The girl looked at him.
“No.”
“It’s impossible only if you don’t know what you’re looking at.”
Richard felt his stomach tighten.
Because the little girl sounded certain.
And worse…
She sounded experienced.
Before anyone could stop her, she reached toward Ethan’s equipment.
Then every alarm in the terminal suddenly started screaming.

And the girl said three words that changed everything.
“Trust me, sir.”
