Chapter 12 - The Letter Ethan Was Never Supposed To Read

Richard held the envelope carefully.
He already knew whatever was inside would change everything.
Lily stood beside him.
“Should you open it?”
Richard looked at the name.
Ethan Harrison.
His son.
The child he almost lost.
He opened it.
Inside was a letter.
Not from Thomas.
Not from Michael.
From Ethan’s mother.
Sophia.
Richard looked confused.
“My wife wrote this?”
Lily nodded slowly.
“She wanted you to know.”
Richard began reading.
The letter explained everything.
Years ago, when Ethan was first diagnosed, Sophia discovered something strange.
The doctors’ reports did not match.
The test results changed too quickly.
The treatments failed too often.
She suspected someone was interfering.
But every time she tried to investigate…
Evidence disappeared.
People refused to speak.
And then Lily’s brother became another victim.
Richard lowered the letter.
“Why didn’t she tell me?”
Lily answered quietly.
“Because she was afraid.”
“Afraid of what?”
The girl looked at him.
“Of losing you.”
Richard felt a painful silence.
His wife had carried the truth alone.
While he was building his empire.
Then his phone rang.
It was the hospital.
Richard answered immediately.
“Mr. Harrison.”
“It’s Ethan.”
His heart stopped.
“What happened?”
The doctor’s voice became serious.
“His condition changed.”
Richard looked at Lily.
“What kind of change?”
A pause.
Then the doctor said:
“His brain activity increased.”
Richard froze.
“Is that good?”
The doctor hesitated.
“We don’t know.”
“Because something strange happened.”
“What?”
The doctor lowered his voice.
“Ethan started writing.”
Richard felt confused.
“My son cannot write.”
“He hasn’t been able to move his hands properly for years.”
The doctor was silent.
Then answered:
“Exactly.”
Richard looked at Lily.
The little girl’s face became pale.

Because she knew what this meant.
