Chapter 14 - The Family Secret Finally Revealed

Richard could not move.
The room felt smaller.
The sounds around him disappeared.
Lily watched his reaction.
She looked afraid.
Not because of what she discovered.
But because she thought Richard would reject her.
“How long have you known?”
Richard asked softly.
Lily shook her head.
“I didn’t know.”
“Then who knew?”
Nobody answered.
Until Sophia walked into the room.
Richard turned.
“Sophia.”
His wife looked exhausted.
“I wanted to tell you.”
Richard stared at her.
“You knew?”
Sophia nodded.
“Before we adopted Ethan’s medical treatment records…”
She stopped.
Then corrected herself.
“Before Ethan was born.”
Richard looked confused.
“What are you saying?”
Sophia sat down.
“Lily’s mother was my sister.”
Richard froze.
The truth finally came out.
Years ago, Sophia’s sister had worked on the medical research project.
She discovered the corruption.
She tried to expose it.
But she disappeared.
Her daughter Lily was left behind.
And the world believed she was gone forever.
Richard looked at Lily.
“You are Sophia’s niece.”
Lily nodded.
“But why didn’t anyone tell me?”
Sophia’s eyes filled with tears.
“Because the people behind this wanted you to forget.”
Richard understood.
The attack on Ethan.
The stolen files.
The hidden hospital.
Everything was connected.
They were not just hiding medical crimes.
They were hiding a family secret.
Then the room lights flickered.
Everyone turned.
A message appeared on the hospital screen.
A live video.
Michael Grant appeared.
His face was calm.
“You finally found the truth.”
Richard stepped closer.
“Where are you?”
Michael smiled.
“You always thought money gave you power.”
“But you never understood real power.”
Richard stared.
“You hurt children.”
Michael shook his head.
“No.”
“I exposed a broken system.”
Lily stepped forward.
“You killed my brother.”
Michael’s expression changed.
Only slightly.
But everyone noticed.
“I saved many others.”
Richard’s anger exploded.
“You destroyed innocent lives.”
Michael leaned closer to the camera.
“And now I will destroy yours.”
The screen went black.

Then one final message appeared.
“Tomorrow, Ethan Harrison disappears.”
