Chapter 8 - ELEANOR’S FINAL WARNING

The guests looked around in confusion.

The giant screen was black.

The evidence was gone.

For a moment, Eleanor believed she had won.

She adjusted her dress.

She fixed her expression.

The powerful Eleanor Whitmore returned.

“Ladies and gentlemen.”

Her voice was calm.

“I apologize for this unfortunate interruption.”

Nobody answered.

Because nobody trusted her anymore.

The bride stepped forward.

“Did you erase it?”

Eleanor looked at her.

“Be careful with your accusations.”

The bride shook her head.

“I saw your face.”

That sentence made Eleanor angry.

“You saw a frightened woman protecting herself from lies.”

Sofia suddenly spoke.

“It wasn’t a lie.”

Everyone looked at her.

The little girl stood alone in the center of the ballroom.

Small.

But fearless.

“My mom said you would do this.”

Eleanor narrowed her eyes.

“What else did your mother say?”

Sofia looked at the floor.

“She said you would try to make everyone think I was wrong.”

Eleanor smiled.

“And?”

Sofia slowly lifted her head.

“She said I should never trust your kindness.”

The room became silent.

Because everyone knew Eleanor was famous for appearing generous.

She donated millions.

She helped charities.

She built a perfect public image.

But now people were wondering.

Was it all fake?

Clara walked beside Sofia.

“She planned for this moment.”

Eleanor laughed softly.

“You think a dead woman can defeat me?”

Sofia froze.

The guests noticed.

Clara’s expression changed.

Because Eleanor had just said something she should not have known.

The bride whispered.

“Dead woman?”

Everyone turned toward Eleanor.

The question was obvious.

How did she know Sofia’s mother was dead?

Eleanor realized her mistake.

Too late.

Clara stepped forward.

“You never told anyone she was dead.”

Eleanor said nothing.

Clara smiled.

“Because you knew.”

May you like

The room exploded with whispers.

Eleanor had just exposed herself.
