Chapter 4 - THE SECRET HIDDEN IN NOAHâS NAME

The courtroom disappeared for Ethan.
The lawyers.
The judge.
The people watching.
None of it mattered.
Because after ten years of believing his mother was goneâŠ
he was hearing her voice again.
A voice he had almost forgotten.
A voice from old memories.
A voice that used to sing him to sleep.
The recording continued.
âEthanâŠâ
Laura Millerâs voice trembled through the speakers.
âIf you are hearing this, it means something happened to me.â
Ethan covered his mouth.
Noah stared at the screen.
He had never heard his motherâs voice before.
Not once.
âI need you to know something.â
The recording paused.
A shaky breath.
âI never left you.â
Ethanâs eyes filled instantly.
The words he had waited years to hear.
But they came with pain.
âI fought every day to come back to you.â
The courtroom was completely silent.
âSomeone wanted our family destroyed. Someone wanted me gone. Someone wanted your fatherâs mistakes buried forever.â
The judge looked at Claire.
âWhat mistakes?â
Claire didnât answer.
She was watching the screen.
Lauraâs voice continued.
âBut the most important thing you need to know is about Noah.â
The little boy looked up.
His face was confused.
âMe?â
Ethan wrapped an arm around him.
The recording continued.
âNoah was not an accident.â
Ethan frowned.
âWhat does that mean?â
Lauraâs voice became softer.
âHe was born because I discovered something.â
The screen flickered.
Then a photo appeared.
A baby.
Noah.
A hospital bracelet around his tiny wrist.
Ethan stared.
His little brother had always been the quiet one.
The child who followed him everywhere.
The child who apologized whenever he needed something.
But nowâŠ
there was a secret around him.
Laura continued.
âBefore Noah was born, I discovered that someone inside the company was changing medical records.â
The prosecutor leaned forward.
âMedical records?â
Claire nodded.
Lauraâs voice continued.
âSomeone was hiding information about Noahâs birth.â
Ethan looked at Noah.
âWhat information?â
The recording suddenly distorted.
Then Laura said:
âIf anything happens to me, do not trust anyone who tells you Noah doesnât belong with you.â
Ethanâs heart stopped.
The screen went black.
Everyone waited.
Then the recording ended.
The judge looked at Claire.
âWhat happened?â
Claire stared at the device.
âThere should be more.â
Richard, who was now being held by security, suddenly laughed.
Everyone turned.
âYou still donât understand.â
Ethan looked at him.
âWhat?â
Richard smiled.
âYou think Laura was protecting Noah.â
He shook his head.
âShe was hiding him.â
The room became tense.
Ethan stepped forward.
âWhy?â
Richard looked at the boy.
âBecause Noah isnât who you think he is.â
Ethanâs face hardened.
âDonât talk about my brother.â
Richard smiled.
âThatâs exactly what I wanted.â
The judge slammed the gavel.
âEnough.â
But Ethan couldnât ignore the fear in Richardâs eyes.
Because Richard wasnât acting like a man who had been caught.
He was acting like a man who still had a plan.
Then Claireâs phone suddenly rang.
She looked at the screen.
Her face turned white.
âWhat is it?â Ethan asked.
Claire slowly lowered the phone.
âItâs from your mother.â
Ethan froze.
âThatâs impossible.â
Claire looked at him.
âNo.â
Her voice shook.
âShe just sent us her location.â
Everyone stopped breathing.
May you like
Because the message contained only four words.
âCome alone. Trust nobody.â
