Chapter 11 - THE AUNT WHO SOLD THEIR SECRET

The name hung in the air.

“My sister.”

Ethan stared.

“Your sister?”

Laura nodded slowly.

“Her name is Victoria.”

The anger inside Ethan grew.

“How many people knew?”

Laura looked away.

“Too many.”

The answer hurt.

Ethan had spent years believing his family was unlucky.

But now he understood.

They weren’t unlucky.

They were targeted.

“Where is she?”

His father looked serious.

“We need to be careful.”

“Why?”

“Because Victoria wasn’t just involved.”

He paused.

“She helped create the plan.”

Ethan felt his hands shake.

“She knew we were suffering?”

“Yes.”

“She knew I was raising Noah alone?”

His father looked down.

“Yes.”

That answer broke something inside him.

Ethan remembered every night.

Every empty kitchen.

Every birthday without parents.

Every time Noah asked:

“When is Mommy coming home?”

And Ethan had no answer.

“She watched us struggle
”

His voice became quiet.

“And did nothing?”

Laura started crying.

“I’m sorry.”

Ethan looked at her.

“I don’t need apologies.”

His voice cracked.

“I needed my family.”

Nobody spoke.

Because there was nothing they could say.

An hour later, they found Victoria’s location.

A private medical center outside the city.

The same place where Noah’s original records had been stored.

Ethan, Laura, his father, and Claire arrived together.

For the first time in years

Ethan wasn’t alone.

Inside the building, they found hundreds of files.

Patients.

Research.

Names.

Then Ethan saw one file.

MILLER FAMILY PROJECT

His father opened it.

Inside were photos.

Ethan.

Noah.

Their mother.

Their father.

But there was something else.

A signature.

Victoria Miller.

Ethan stared.

“She signed this?”

Laura closed her eyes.

“Yes.”

The pain on her face was unbearable.

“She told me she was helping.”

“She said she wanted to protect us.”

Ethan laughed bitterly.

“She sold us.”

Suddenly, an alarm sounded.

Everyone froze.

The lights flickered.

Then a voice came over the speakers.

“Congratulations.”

Everyone looked up.

Victoria.

Her voice echoed through the building.

“You finally found the truth.”

Ethan shouted:

“Show yourself!”

A screen turned on.

Victoria appeared.

Older.

Cold.

Without regret.

Laura stepped forward.

“Why?”

Victoria smiled.

“Because you always thought you were better than me.”

“That’s not true.”

“It is.”

Victoria’s eyes hardened.

“You had the perfect family.”

She pointed at the screen.

“And I had nothing.”

Ethan stared.

“So you destroyed us?”

Victoria laughed.

“I corrected the balance.”

Claire whispered:

“She’s insane.”

Victoria ignored her.

“Your father had money.”

“Your mother had intelligence.”

“And Ethan
”

She smiled.

“You had something even more valuable.”

Ethan felt cold.

“What?”

Victoria leaned closer to the camera.

“You had the ability to survive.”

The screen suddenly changed.

A countdown appeared.

10:00

Everyone froze.

“What is that?”

Victoria smiled.

“A test.”

The countdown continued.

09:59

“Your family has always survived.”

She looked directly at Ethan.

“Let’s see if you can save them this time.”

May you like

The screen went black.

And the doors locked automatically.
