Chapter 4 - FAMILY CAN HURT THE MOST

Michael Vale walked into the mansion the next morning like nothing had happened.

That was what hurt Dominic the most.

The confidence.

The calm.

The belief that nobody would discover the truth.

“Uncle.”

Michael smiled.

“How are you feeling?”

Dominic sat in his chair.

Better.

Much better.

And Michael noticed.

His smile disappeared for half a second.

“Recovery seems faster.”

Dominic looked at him.

“Funny you mention that.”

Michael sat down.

“What do you mean?”

Dominic placed a folder on the table.

Inside were copies of the medical records.

Michael didn’t touch them.

That was another mistake.

“You’re not even curious?”

Michael forced a laugh.

“I don’t know what you’re talking about.”

Dominic leaned closer.

“Your father taught you many things.”

Michael looked up.

“But he forgot one.”

“What?”

“Never underestimate the person you’re trying to destroy.”

The room became quiet.

Michael stood.

“You think I did this?”

“I think you know who did.”

Michael walked toward the door.

Then stopped.

“You always thought fear made people loyal.”

Dominic watched him.

“And?”

Michael smiled.

“Sometimes fear makes people wait for the right moment.”

Then he left.

Vincent entered seconds later.

“Boss.”

“What?”

“We found Arthur.”

“Where?”

Vincent hesitated.

“He’s not alone.”

Dominic looked at him.

“Who is with him?”

Vincent answered:

“Your former doctor.”

May you like

Dominic froze.

“Dr. Samuel Mercer?”
