Chapter 14 - THE LAST MOVE

The memory card contained everything.
Bank records.
Private conversations.
Secret agreements.
Years of Arthur’s betrayal.
The evidence was undeniable.
But Dominic knew something.
People like Arthur never disappeared quietly.
And he was right.
One hour later, Arthur contacted them.
A video appeared on every screen in the mansion.
Arthur stood inside Dominic’s private office.
The place where Dominic had built his empire.
“You always loved control.”
Arthur looked into the camera.
“But tonight, you’ll learn what losing control feels like.”
Vincent checked the signal.
“He’s still inside the building.”
Dominic grabbed his cane.
“I know.”
“You shouldn’t go alone.”
Dominic looked at him.
“I’m not.”
He looked at Ellie.
Clare immediately stepped forward.
“She is not going anywhere.”
Dominic nodded.
“She stays here.”
Then he walked toward the office.
Arthur was waiting.
“You came.”
Dominic closed the door.
“Yes.”
Arthur smiled.
“You should hate me.”
“I do.”
The honesty surprised Arthur.
“But hate doesn’t make decisions.”
Arthur laughed.
“You still think you’re better than me.”
“No.”
Dominic looked at him.
“I think I was lucky.”
Arthur frowned.
“Lucky?”
“Yes.”
“Because of what?”
Dominic answered:
“Because a child reminded me to look at things everyone else ignored.”
Arthur’s face tightened.
The words hurt because they were true.
Then Arthur pulled out a phone.
“One call.”
Dominic stopped.
“What?”
“Your company. Your reputation. Everything.”
Arthur smiled.
“One button.”
Dominic stared.
“You think you still have power.”
Arthur pressed the screen.
Nothing happened.
He looked confused.
Then angry.
“What did you do?”
Dominic smiled.
“I stopped trusting one person.”
Arthur froze.
“The moment I found out about the brace…”
Dominic continued.
“I changed every security system.”
Arthur looked at the phone.
The signal was gone.
“You knew?”
“No.”
Dominic stepped closer.
“But I prepared.”
That was the difference.
Arthur had planned for Dominic to fall.
Dominic had planned for someone to try.
Then the door opened.
Police entered.
Arthur stared.
Dominic looked at him.
“Game over.”
May you like
But Arthur smiled.
Because he still had one final secret.
