Chapter 3 - THE POISONED RECOVERY

Dominic stared at the medication records.

Three months.

Three months of small changes.

Nothing obvious.

Nothing that would immediately raise suspicion.

But enough.

Enough to slow recovery.

Enough to create weakness.

Enough to make everyone believe Dominic Vale was losing control.

“They changed my medicine.”

Mercer looked ashamed.

“Yes.”

Dominic looked at him.

“Did you know?”

The doctor immediately shook his head.

“No.”

“Then who approved it?”

Nobody answered.

That silence was an answer.

Dominic walked toward the window.

Chicago lights reflected against the glass.

For years, people had tried to attack his businesses.

His reputation.

His money.

But this was different.

Someone had attacked his body.

Someone had entered his home.

Someone had used his own people against him.

“Find Arthur.”

Vincent nodded.

“We already tried.”

“And?”

“He left the estate ten minutes ago.”

Dominic smiled slightly.

A cold smile.

“Good.”

Vincent looked confused.

“Good?”

“Yes.”

“Why?”

“Because guilty people run.”

That night, Dominic discovered something else.

Arthur had not acted alone.

The security footage showed another person.

Someone inside the organization.

Someone Dominic trusted.

Someone who had attended every family dinner.

Every meeting.

Every celebration.

When Vincent showed him the image…

Dominic went silent.

Because the person standing beside Arthur was someone he never expected.

May you like

His own nephew.

Michael Vale.
