CHAPTER 14 — The Final Confrontation

CHAPTER 14 — The Final Confrontation

Adrian Cross contacted me three days later.

He wanted a meeting.

No police.

No lawyers.

Just me.

I agreed.

Because I wanted him to see something.

When I arrived at the abandoned warehouse, Adrian was waiting.

Older.

Tired.

But still arrogant.

“You look like your father.”

I stared at him.

“And you look exactly like the man who betrayed him.”

He smiled.

“Your father was sentimental.”

“He trusted people.”

“He was weak.”

I stepped closer.

“No.”

My voice was calm.

“He was human.”

Adrian laughed.

“You think you won?”

He lifted a folder.

“You have no idea how powerful I am.”

I looked at the folder.

Then back at him.

“You still don’t understand.”

His smile faded.

“Understand what?”

I pressed a button on my phone.

The warehouse filled with sound.

Every conversation.

Every payment.

Every plan.

Recorded.

Adrian’s face changed.

“You recorded me?”

I smiled.

“You spent years planning revenge.”

A pause.

“I spent my career learning how to catch people like you.”

Outside, police vehicles surrounded the building.

Adrian finally realized.

May you like

The woman he thought he could manipulate…

was the person who had been hunting people like him all her life.
