Chapter 13 - THE TRUTH THAT BROKE THE SULLIVAN FAMILY

The abandoned Sullivan warehouse stood at the edge of the city.

A place forgotten by everyone.

Everyone except the people who hid secrets there.

Rain hit the roof like thousands of tiny fists.

Matthew Sullivan walked inside alone.

No security.

No assistants.

No army of lawyers.

Just a father looking for his daughter.

“Charles!”

His voice echoed through the empty building.

A light turned on.

Then another.

Slowly, the darkness disappeared.

And there he was.

Charles Sullivan.

Standing beside a table.

Calm.

Almost relaxed.

“You came.”

Matthew stared at him.

“Where is Sarah?”

Charles smiled.

“Straight to business.”

“Where is my daughter?”

“She’s safe.”

“You kidnapped her.”

“I protected her.”

Matthew stepped forward.

“If you touch her—”

Charles interrupted.

“Do you really think I’m the enemy?”

Matthew stopped.

“After everything you’ve done?”

Charles looked disappointed.

“You still don’t understand.”

“I understand enough.”

“No.”

Charles shook his head.

“You understand what Anne told you. What David told you. What everyone wants you to believe.”

Matthew’s eyes narrowed.

“What are you saying?”

Charles walked toward the old wooden table.

On it was a folder.

A very old folder.

“I’m saying your father knew something.”

Matthew didn’t move.

“What?”

Charles opened it.

“Your father discovered that Sullivan Holdings was being attacked from the inside.”

“By who?”

Charles looked at him.

“Someone who wanted the company before you were old enough to run it.”

Matthew stared.

“Who?”

Charles placed a photograph on the table.

Matthew picked it up.

And froze.

It was a picture of three people.

His father.

His uncle Charles.

And

David Carter.

“What is this?”

“Proof.”

“Proof of what?”

“That David wasn’t your father’s lawyer.”

Matthew looked confused.

“Then what was he?”

Charles answered:

“He was the man controlling everything.”

The warehouse became silent.

Matthew looked at the picture again.

“No.”

“Yes.”

Charles continued.

“Your father discovered David was moving company money. Creating fake accounts. Building his own empire.”

“Why didn’t he expose him?”

“Because David threatened the family.”

Matthew felt a cold feeling.

“Anne?”

Charles nodded.

“Sarah.”

His voice became serious.

“And you.”

Matthew looked away.

For years, he believed his father was the villain.

Maybe he was cruel.

Maybe he made terrible choices.

But maybe

There was another monster hiding behind him.

“Where is Sarah?”

Charles pointed toward a door.

“She’s inside.”

Matthew moved.

Then stopped.

“Why?”

Charles looked at him.

“Because I wanted you to see the truth.”

“The truth?”

Charles nodded.

“Your father wasn’t trying to destroy your family.”

A pause.

“He was trying to save it.”

Matthew opened the door.

Inside was Sarah.

Sitting on a chair.

Holding Luna.

The moment she saw him, her face changed.

“Daddy!”

She ran toward him.

Matthew dropped to his knees and hugged her.

For the first time in his life

The billionaire cried without caring who saw.

“I’m sorry.”

Sarah held him.

“Why?”

“Because I should have found you sooner.”

She shook her head.

“You found me now.”

Those words broke him.

Then a sound came from behind them.

A slow clap.

Everyone turned.

David Carter stood at the entrance.

Smiling.

“Beautiful.”

Matthew immediately moved in front of Sarah.

“You.”

David laughed.

“I knew this moment would come.”

Charles stepped forward.

“David.”

The smile disappeared.

“Charles.”

Matthew looked between them.

“You two
”

David shook his head.

“Charles was always emotional.”

Then he pulled out a gun.

May you like

The room froze.

“Unlike me.”
