Chapter 6 - The Woman They Tried To Silence

The moment Emma stepped out of the car in Manhattan, cameras exploded.

Reporters surrounded her.

“Mrs. Weston!”

“Are you denying the accusations?”

“Is Andrew Weston trying to take custody of your child?”

For weeks, Emma had been silent.

Today, she finally spoke.

She looked directly at the cameras.

“My entire life has been discussed by people who never asked me the truth.”

The reporters became quiet.

Emma continued.

“I was told to stay quiet.”

“I was told to protect someone’s reputation.”

“I was told my pain was inconvenient.”

Her eyes became colder.

“But I will not be silent anymore.”

The crowd reacted immediately.

Across the street, Andrew watched from inside his car.

His hands tightened.

Because the woman standing there was not the same woman who left the ballroom.

That woman was hurt.

This woman was dangerous.

---

Inside the courthouse, Andrew’s lawyers attacked immediately.

They claimed Emma disappeared without warning.

They claimed she was emotionally unstable.

They claimed she endangered the baby by leaving the country.

Emma sat calmly beside Victoria.

Waiting.

The judge looked at Andrew’s legal team.

“Do you have evidence supporting these claims?”

The lawyer placed documents forward.

“Yes, Your Honor.”

Victoria smiled slightly.

The judge noticed.

“Ms. Hale?”

Victoria stood.

“Before we discuss my client’s emotional condition, we should discuss the evidence showing why she left.”

The judge looked confused.

“What evidence?”

Victoria handed over a folder.

“Security footage from the Manhattan Grand Hotel.”

The room became silent.

The footage played.

Andrew kissing Lila.

Everyone watching.

Everyone seeing.

Then another file appeared.

Text messages.

Andrew and Lila.

Private conversations.

Plans.

Dates.

Meetings.

The judge’s expression changed.

Andrew’s lawyer looked shocked.

Because this was not about a mistake.

This was about a pattern.

Emma looked at Andrew.

For the first time, he looked uncomfortable.

Victoria spoke calmly.

“Mr. Weston claims my client is unstable because she reacted to betrayal.”

She paused.

“But the evidence shows my client was the victim of a carefully planned humiliation.”

Andrew’s jaw tightened.

“You have no idea what you’re doing.”

Emma turned toward him.

“Yes.”

Her voice was quiet.

“I do.”

---

After the hearing, Andrew followed Emma into the hallway.

“Emma.”

She kept walking.

“Emma, stop.”

She finally turned.

“What?”

For a moment, Andrew looked like the man she married.

The man who used to hold her hand.

The man who promised forever.

Then it disappeared.

“You’re making a mistake.”

Emma stared.

“No.”

She shook her head.

“The mistake was believing you.”

Andrew lowered his voice.

“You think Victoria Hale is protecting you?”

Emma looked at him.

“She is.”

Andrew smiled.

A cold smile.

“You don’t know her.”

Emma froze.

“What does that mean?”

Andrew stepped closer.

“Ask her why she really helped your grandfather.”

Before Emma could respond, Andrew walked away.

But his words stayed.

Because for the first time…

Emma wondered.

Was Victoria truly protecting her?

Or was everyone around her hiding something?

That night, back at the safe house, Emma found a package waiting.

No sender.

No address.

Inside was an old photograph.

A photograph of her grandfather.

Standing beside Andrew’s father.

And on the back…

Four words written in black ink.

YOUR FAMILY KILLED MINE.

Emma dropped the photo.

Because suddenly, the war was no longer about a divorce.

It was about two powerful families.

And a secret buried for decades.

A secret that could destroy both of them.
