Chapter 2 - The Secret Behind Emma Weston

Emma did not sleep.
Not that night.
Not on the private jet.
Not after discovering the documents hidden inside the folder.
She sat alone in the leather seat, staring at numbers that did not make sense.
A billion-dollar trust.
Created fifteen years earlier.
Protected by strict legal conditions.
Beneficiary:
Emma Rose Carter Weston.
Her maiden name.
The name she had stopped using after marriage.
She turned the pages again.
Every document was real.
Every signature was hers.
But she had no memory of signing anything like this.
A voice interrupted her thoughts.
“Mrs. Weston.”
Emma looked up.
Daniel stood near the cabin door.
“How long have you known?”
Daniel understood immediately.
“You found the documents.”
“Yes.”
“How long have you known about my money?”
Daniel looked away.
“That is not my information to share.”
Emma stood.
“You brought me onto a private jet in the middle of the night.”
“Yes.”
“You told me I might be in danger.”
“Yes.”
“You knew I had billions hidden away.”
Daniel remained silent.
Emma’s anger grew.
“Then tell me the truth.”
After several seconds, Daniel finally spoke.
“Your grandfather created the trust.”
Emma froze.
“My grandfather?”
“Before his death.”
“My grandfather died when I was eighteen.”
“Yes.”
“Then why don’t I know about this?”
Daniel looked at the documents.
“Because your grandfather believed your family would use you.”
Emma felt a cold feeling spread through her body.
“My family?”
Daniel nodded.
“Your father and mother were involved in financial disputes before their deaths.”
Emma shook her head.
“That’s impossible.”
“Is it?”
Daniel opened another file.
Inside was a newspaper article.
A car accident.
Ten years earlier.
The official report said it was an accident.
But attached to the file were private investigation notes.
Emma slowly read the page.
Possible tampering.
Financial motive.
Unknown parties involved.
Her hands started trembling.
“My parents…”
Daniel said nothing.
Emma looked away.
All her life, she believed she had lost her parents in a tragic accident.
Now someone was telling her it might have been something else.
A knock came from the front cabin.
A woman entered.
She was older.
Elegant.
Wearing a dark blue suit.
Emma recognized her immediately.
“Victoria Hale.”
The woman smiled sadly.
“Yes.”
Victoria was one of the most powerful attorneys in America.
She had represented billionaires, celebrities, and politicians.
Emma had seen her on television.
“What are you doing here?”
Victoria sat across from her.
“Protecting you.”
“Why?”
Victoria looked at her carefully.
“Because your grandfather asked me to.”
Emma felt her heart race.
“My grandfather has been dead for years.”
“He knew there would come a time when you needed answers.”
Victoria placed a small box on the table.
“This belongs to you.”
Emma opened it.
Inside was a letter.
Old.
Handwritten.
Her grandfather’s handwriting.
She recognized it immediately.
Emma,
If you are reading this, then something has happened that forced you to search for the truth.
I hope I am wrong.
But if I am right, you married a man who never understood your value.
Emma stopped reading.
Her eyes filled with tears.
Because her grandfather had written those words before Andrew ever entered her life.
Victoria continued.
“Your grandfather investigated the Weston family.”
Emma looked up.
“Why?”
“Because he believed Andrew’s father had information about your parents’ deaths.”
The room became silent.
Emma whispered:
“Andrew knew?”
Victoria did not answer.
And that silence was enough.

Meanwhile, back in Manhattan…
Andrew Weston stood inside their penthouse.
Alone.
The divorce papers were still sitting on his desk.
He had read them six times.
He still could not believe it.
Emma left him.
Emma.
The woman who always waited.
The woman who always forgave.
The woman who cried quietly instead of fighting.
She actually left.
The door opened.
Lila walked in.
“Andrew?”
He did not turn.
“You need to leave.”
Lila stopped.
“What?”
“You heard me.”
Her expression changed.
“You’re blaming me?”
Andrew finally looked at her.
His eyes were cold.
“You made a mistake.”
Lila laughed.
“A mistake?”
She stepped closer.
“You kissed me in front of everyone.”
“And you enjoyed it.”
Her smile disappeared.
Then she whispered:
“You promised me she would disappear.”
Andrew froze.
“What did you say?”
Lila realized too late.
She had revealed too much.
Andrew walked toward her.
“What did you mean?”
Lila looked nervous.
“I mean…”
“No.”
His voice became dangerous.
“Tell me what you know.”
Lila said nothing.
Andrew grabbed the divorce papers from the desk.
Then he noticed something.
A small mark.
A symbol stamped on the corner.
His face changed.
Because he recognized it.
The symbol belonged to one organization.
The Carter Foundation.
Emma’s family.
A family Andrew thought had no power left.
A family he believed he had already defeated.
But he was wrong.
May you like
Very wrong.
