Chapter 8 - THE SISTER WHO STOLE THE TRUTH

Alexander could not sleep.
For the first time in years, his mind refused to slow down.
Every memory of his childhood felt different.
Every conversation with his father.
Every decision.
Every moment he believed he understood his family.
Now everything had another meaning.
Emily found him sitting alone in his office at three in the morning.
She quietly entered.
“You haven't slept.”
Alexander looked up.
“No.”
She sat beside him.
“Tell me.”
He handed her the documents.
She read them carefully.
After several minutes, she looked shocked.
“Victoria knew all this?”
“Yes.”
“Why would she hide it?”
Alexander looked toward the window.
“Because she was afraid.”
“Of Clara?”
He shook his head.
“Of losing control.”
Emily understood.
Victoria had spent her entire life believing the Sterling name belonged to her.
Not because of love.
Because of ownership.
Clara's existence threatened that.
---
The next morning, Alexander called an emergency family meeting.
Everyone connected to the Sterling trust was present.
Board members.
Lawyers.
Family representatives.
And Victoria.
She entered confidently.
She expected anger.
Arguments.
Chaos.
Instead, Alexander placed a document in front of everyone.
“This meeting is about the future of the Sterling family.”
Victoria smiled.
“Finally.”
“You are admitting the truth?”
Alexander looked at her.
“Yes.”
The room became quiet.
“Everything.”
Victoria's smile slowly faded.
Alexander continued.
“For twenty years, information was hidden from me.”
Everyone looked at Victoria.
She remained silent.
“My father created a trust that included another heir.”
Whispers spread through the room.
“And that heir is Clara Morgan.”
The room erupted.
Victoria watched carefully.
Waiting for the collapse.
Waiting for Alexander to lose control.
But he didn't.
That scared her.
Because Alexander was calmer than ever.
“The question today is not whether Clara is part of this family.”
He looked around.
“The question is whether this family is capable of honesty.”
---
Clara entered the room.
Every eye turned toward her.
Some judged her.
Some feared her.
Some calculated how her existence would affect their own positions.
Alexander stood.
“This is my sister.”
The simple statement shocked everyone.
Especially Victoria.
Because she expected him to reject Clara.
Instead, he accepted her.
Not because of the company.
Not because of the inheritance.
Because she was family.
Victoria's voice cut through the room.
“You are making a mistake.”
Alexander looked at her.
“No.”
“You are destroying everything our father built.”
Alexander replied calmly.
“No.”
“I am fixing what he left broken.”
Victoria stood.
“You think choosing her makes you better?”
Alexander looked directly at her.
“No.”
“It makes me different from you.”
The words hit harder than any accusation.
---
After the meeting, Daniel approached Alexander.
“There is one more thing.”
Alexander looked tired.
“What now?”
Daniel handed him another file.
“I investigated the original trust.”
Alexander opened it.
His expression changed.
“What?”
Daniel lowered his voice.
“Victoria was not just hiding information.”
“She altered documents.”
Alexander looked up.
“Are you sure?”
“Yes.”
“She changed the inheritance structure years ago.”
A terrible silence followed.
Victoria had not simply hidden the truth.
She had rewritten it.
And now the question was no longer about family.
May you like
It was about fraud.
