Chapter 6 - The Man Victoria Tried To Hide
At 2:13 in the morning…
Ethan stared at the information on his computer screen.
A name.
An address.
A secret Victoria had protected for years.
The private investigator sat across from him.
“Sir, are you sure you want to continue?”
Ethan did not look away.
“I need the truth.”
The investigator placed a folder on the table.
“Victoria has been meeting someone.”
Ethan slowly opened it.
Photos.
Messages.
Hotel records.
Everything was there.
The man’s name was Adrian Cross.
A wealthy businessman.
And according to the records…
Victoria had known him before she met Ethan.
Ethan felt a wave of anger.
But something bothered him more.
“Why would she hide this?”
The investigator hesitated.
“Because Adrian Cross may have information about Leo’s birth.”
Ethan froze.
“What does that mean?”
Before the investigator could answer…
Ethan’s phone rang.
It was Clara.
Her voice was shaking.
“Mr. Ethan…”
“What happened?”
“Leo woke up screaming.”
Ethan immediately stood.
“What did he say?”
There was a long silence.
Then Clara whispered:
“He said…”
“Daddy, don’t let Mommy give me away.”
Ethan rushed home.
But when he reached Leo’s room…
Victoria was already inside.
Holding his son.
And smiling.
Like nothing was wrong.
Ethan stopped at the door.
Because Leo was not looking at Victoria.
He was looking at him.
With fear in his eyes.
