Chapter 3 - The Secret Victoria Wanted Buried

Ethan stared at the message for several minutes.

His first instinct was anger.

His second instinct was fear.

Because whoever sent it…

Knew something.

Something about his family.

He immediately replied.

“Who are you?”

No answer came.

Instead…

Another message appeared.

A photograph.

Ethan opened it.

His face changed.

It was Leo.

Standing alone in the hallway.

Crying.

The picture was taken three weeks earlier.

A day Ethan remembered clearly.

Victoria had told him Leo was sick.

She said she stayed home to comfort him.

But the picture showed something different.

Victoria was walking away.

Leaving Leo alone.

Ethan looked at Clara.

“Why didn’t you tell me?”

Clara’s eyes filled with tears.

“Because I needed this job.”

“And because every time I tried…”

“She threatened me.”

Ethan stood.

“No one threatens people in my house.”

Then he walked directly toward Victoria’s office.

The door was locked.

He opened it with force.

Inside…

Everything looked normal.

Too normal.

Until he noticed a small drawer.

Hidden behind a painting.

Inside was a folder.

Ethan opened it.

His hands began shaking.

The folder contained reports.

School notes.

Medical records.

Private documents about Leo.

But the worst part…

Was a handwritten page.

Victoria’s handwriting.

It said:

“Ethan is too emotional. He will always choose the child.”

Ethan stared at the words.

Then he turned the page.

The final sentence made his entire body go cold.

“The only way to fix this is to remove the problem.”

At that exact moment…

The office door slowly opened.

Victoria stood there.

May you like

Watching him.

“You were never supposed to find that.”
