Chapter 10 - The Enemy Inside The House

Ethan read the note again.

And again.

The threat was clear.

Someone wanted him to stop.

But Ethan had already decided.

He would not stop.

Not now.

Not when Leo needed him most.

The security team searched the mansion.

Every room.

Every camera.

Every entrance.

But nothing made sense.

“No one entered.”

The security manager looked confused.

“The person who took the folder was already inside.”

Ethan slowly turned.

Everyone in the room froze.

Victoria.

Adrian.

Clara.

The staff.

Someone close had betrayed him.

Victoria immediately pointed at Adrian.

“It was him.”

Adrian laughed.

“Of course.”

“You always blame others.”

Ethan watched them carefully.

Then he noticed something.

Clara was staring at the floor.

“Clara.”

She looked up.

“Yes, sir?”

“You know something.”

Her face changed.

“I…”

“Tell me.”

Clara’s eyes filled with tears.

“I was afraid.”

“Of who?”

She looked toward Victoria.

“No.”

Then she looked toward Adrian.

“No.”

Finally…

She whispered:

“Of both.”

The room went silent.

Ethan stepped closer.

“What are you talking about?”

Clara took a deep breath.

“Mrs. Victoria and Mr. Adrian were not the only ones hiding things.”

Ethan’s expression darkened.

“What else?”

Clara reached into her pocket.

She pulled out an old envelope.

“I found this years ago.”

“Why didn’t you give it to me?”

“Because I was told if I opened my mouth…”

She looked toward Leo’s room.

“They would hurt him.”

Ethan opened the envelope.

Inside was a letter.

The handwriting was familiar.

Victoria’s.

But the date shocked him.

It was written one month after Leo was born.

The final sentence made Ethan’s heart stop.

“If Ethan ever discovers the truth, we must remove him before he takes Leo away.”

Ethan slowly lowered the paper.

Because now he understood.

This was never just about a secret child.

It was a plan.

May you like

A plan that started years ago.

And Ethan had been the target from the beginning.
