Chapter 12 - The Woman Who Finally Confessed

Ethan refused to leave Leo alone.

Not for one second.

Security surrounded the mansion.

The police were contacted.

And every person inside the house was questioned.

But Ethan knew something.

The answers were still missing.

Especially from Victoria.

That night…

She found him in the study.

For the first time…

She looked defeated.

“Ethan.”

He did not turn around.

“What do you want?”

“I want to tell you the truth.”

He looked at her.

“Now?”

“After everything?”

Victoria lowered her head.

“I was afraid.”

Ethan said nothing.

“When Leo was born, Adrian disappeared.”

“He left me with nothing.”

“I had no money.”

“No family.”

“No way to protect my child.”

Ethan’s expression remained cold.

“So you chose me.”

“Yes.”

“But I never expected to love you.”

A painful silence followed.

Ethan looked away.

“You should have told me.”

“I know.”

“You should have trusted me.”

“I know.”

“Instead, you built a life on lies.”

Victoria started crying.

“I made mistakes.”

“No.”

Ethan shook his head.

“You made choices.”

She had no answer.

Then Ethan asked:

“Who is threatening us now?”

Victoria froze.

That reaction told him everything.

“You know.”

She closed her eyes.

“Yes.”

“Who?”

Her voice became barely a whisper.

“My father.”

Ethan stared.

“Your father?”

“He was the one who helped me hide everything.”

“Why?”

Victoria looked terrified.

“Because he knew Leo was connected to something bigger.”

Ethan stepped closer.

“What does that mean?”

Before Victoria could answer…

The mansion alarm suddenly activated.

A guard’s voice came through the speaker.

“Mr. Hale…”

“We found someone outside.”

Ethan grabbed his coat.

“Who?”

The guard hesitated.

May you like

Then answered:

“Your father-in-law.”
