Chapter 11 - The Plan Behind The Perfect Family
Ethan read the letter one more time.
Then he slowly placed it on the table.
The room was silent.
Everyone was waiting for his reaction.
But Ethan did not shout.
He did not break anything.
He simply looked at Victoria.
And that scared her more than anger ever could.
“You planned this.”
Victoria’s face turned pale.
“Ethan…”
“You married me because I was useful.”
“That’s not true.”
“You needed my name.”
“My money.”
“My protection.”
His voice became colder.
“And you used my love for Leo to keep your secret alive.”
Victoria’s eyes filled with tears.
“You don’t understand.”
“No.”
Ethan stepped closer.
“I understand everything now.”
Adrian watched silently.
For the first time…
He looked uncomfortable.
Ethan turned toward him.
“And you.”
Adrian raised his eyes.
“What about me?”
“You knew.”
Adrian said nothing.
“You knew she was lying to me.”
“I knew she was desperate.”
Ethan laughed bitterly.
“Desperate enough to destroy my life?”
Adrian looked away.
Then Clara quietly spoke.
“There is more.”
Everyone turned toward her.
Clara held another envelope.
“I found this hidden in Mrs. Victoria’s office.”
Ethan opened it.
Inside were financial records.
Payments.
Transfers.
Private investigators.
And one shocking document.
A contract.
Between Victoria and Adrian.
The agreement was dated before Ethan and Victoria’s wedding.
The first line read:
“After Ethan Hale legally adopts Leo, full control of assets will be transferred.”
Ethan’s hands tightened.
They never wanted a family.
They wanted his empire.
His name.
His inheritance.
Suddenly…
Leo screamed from upstairs.
“Daddy!”
Ethan ran.
Everyone followed.
When he entered Leo’s room…
The window was open.
The curtains moved in the cold wind.
And Leo was holding a small piece of paper.
His tiny hands were shaking.
Ethan took it.
Only one sentence was written.
“Your father cannot protect you forever.”
Ethan looked outside.
Someone had been there.
Someone was still watching.
May you like
And this time…
They had gone after Leo.
