Chapter 7 - THE MAN WHO WAS NEVER ALLOWED TO COME HOME

Camila could barely hear anything after those words.

Daniel was alive.

The sentence repeated inside her mind.

Again.

And again.

For four years, she had imagined a thousand explanations.

Maybe he forgot her.

Maybe he stopped loving her.

Maybe he found someone else.

Maybe she was never important enough to stay for.

But never once did she imagine this.

That he had been alive.

That he had been searching.

That someone had stolen four years from them.

“Where is he?”

Her voice was barely a whisper.

Michael looked at Adrian.

Adrian understood immediately.

He knew this moment belonged to Camila.

“He’s at a private medical facility outside the city.”

Camila grabbed her coat.

“Take me there.”

Adrian stepped forward.

“Camila, wait.”

“No.”

She looked at him.

“I waited four years.”

Her eyes filled with tears.

“I waited while my daughter asked questions I couldn’t answer.”

“I waited while everyone told me he was gone.”

“I am done waiting.”

Nobody argued.

Because nobody could.

Less than an hour later, the car stopped in front of a quiet medical building.

Camila’s hands were shaking.

Adrian noticed.

“You don’t have to go in if you’re not ready.”

She looked at him.

“I have been ready for four years.”

The doors opened.

And every step toward that room felt heavier than the last.

Finally, they stopped.

A nurse opened the door.

And Camila saw him.

Daniel.

Older.

Thinner.

A scar near his temple.

But still Daniel.

The man she loved.

The man she lost.

The man she thought she would never see again.

He was sitting beside the window.

Looking outside.

When he heard the door open, he turned.

For a moment, nobody moved.

Nobody spoke.

Because some moments were too painful for words.

Daniel stared at her.

His face changed.

Confusion.

Shock.

Then disbelief.

“Camila?”

The sound of her name almost broke her.

She covered her mouth.

Daniel slowly stood.

“No
”

His voice trembled.

“No, this isn’t possible.”

Camila couldn’t stop crying.

“It’s me.”

Daniel took one step forward.

Then stopped.

As if he was afraid she would disappear.

“I looked for you.”

The words came out broken.

“I looked everywhere.”

Camila closed her eyes.

“I thought you left me.”

Daniel looked destroyed.

“Never.”

One word.

But it carried four years of pain.

“I would never leave you.”

The silence between them was filled with everything they had lost.

Then Daniel noticed something.

A little girl standing behind Camila.

Isabella.

His breathing stopped.

“Who is that?”

Camila looked down.

She reached for Isabella’s hand.

“Daniel
”

Her voice broke.

“This is your daughter.”

The world stopped.

Daniel looked at the little girl.

The little girl with his eyes.

His expression collapsed.

“My
”

He couldn’t finish the sentence.

Isabella looked at him carefully.

“Are you my daddy?”

Daniel covered his mouth.

Tears filled his eyes.

“Yes.”

His voice broke.

“Yes, sweetheart.”

Isabella slowly walked toward him.

“You look like my picture.”

Daniel dropped to his knees.

And when his daughter hugged him for the first time

Four years of pain finally came out.

He cried.

Camila cried.

Even Adrian looked away.

Because some reunions were too emotional to watch.

But happiness never lasted long.

Later that evening, after Daniel had met his daughter, Adrian received a message.

His face immediately changed.

Camila noticed.

“What happened?”

Adrian looked at the phone.

“Elena knows.”

Daniel became serious.

“She found out?”

“Yes.”

Daniel’s expression darkened.

“She will come after Isabella.”

Camila immediately pulled her daughter closer.

“No one touches my child.”

Adrian looked at her.

And for the first time, he saw something different.

Not the frightened woman from the bench.

A mother who was ready to fight.

“Then we fight.”

May you like

But none of them knew

Elena was already several steps ahead.
