Chapter 5 - THE SHADOW BEHIND THE FAMILY NAME

The next morning, Adrian moved Camila and Isabella to a private residence.

Camila didn’t want luxury.

She didn’t want expensive rooms.

She didn’t want anything connected to the Hayes family.

But Adrian explained one thing.

“This isn’t about comfort.”

“It’s about safety.”

Camila hated admitting it.

But he was right.

Someone had found them.

Someone dangerous enough to know her private number.

Someone powerful enough to hide the truth for four years.

The house was beautiful.

Too beautiful.

A large modern home surrounded by trees.

A place where Isabella could run freely.

But Camila felt uncomfortable.

She had spent days sleeping on a bench.

Now she was standing inside a mansion.

The difference felt impossible.

Isabella ran toward the living room.

“Mommy!”

“There are so many windows!”

Camila smiled.

“Don’t touch anything expensive.”

Isabella laughed.

“I won’t.”

Adrian watched them quietly.

For the first time in years

The house felt alive.

Then Michael entered.

His expression was serious.

“Adrian.”

Adrian immediately knew something happened.

“What is it?”

Michael handed him a folder.

Camila noticed.

“What happened?”

Adrian looked at the documents.

“The person who sent the threat made a mistake.”

Camila stepped closer.

“What mistake?”

Michael pointed at a page.

“This message was sent from inside the Hayes company system.”

Silence.

Camila looked at Adrian.

“So someone in your family is behind this.”

Adrian didn’t answer.

Because he already knew.

The person who betrayed Daniel wasn’t a stranger.

It was someone close.

Someone with access.

Someone who knew every secret.

“Who?”

Camila asked.

Adrian looked at the floor.

“My sister.”

Camila froze.

“Victoria?”

“No.”

“Victoria has been trying to fix this.”

“Someone else.”

Michael spoke quietly.

“Elena Hayes.”

Adrian’s younger sister.

The person everyone believed was innocent.

The person who stayed away from family conflicts.

The person who had always claimed she loved Daniel.

Camila remembered the name.

“She knew Daniel was looking for me?”

“Yes.”

“Then why?”

Adrian looked toward the window.

“Because if Daniel returned
”

“She would lose everything.”

Camila frowned.

“What does that mean?”

Adrian didn’t answer immediately.

Then he finally spoke.

“When my father became sick, Daniel was supposed to take control of the company.”

“But after Daniel disappeared
”

“Elena positioned herself as the future leader.”

Camila understood.

Money.

Power.

A family empire.

That was the reason.

Someone destroyed a family for control.

“She chose a company over her own brother.”

Adrian nodded.

“And she chose silence over the truth.”

Suddenly, Isabella walked into the room holding a drawing.

“Uncle Adrian?”

Everyone stopped.

Adrian looked surprised.

She smiled.

“Can you help me draw Daddy?”

The room became silent.

Adrian looked at the little girl.

The little girl who had his brother’s eyes.

Slowly, he sat down.

“What do you want to draw?”

“A family.”

Adrian looked at the paper.

A house.

A tree.

People holding hands.

Then Isabella pointed.

“That’s Daddy.”

“That’s Mommy.”

“And that’s me.”

She looked at Adrian.

“Can you draw yourself too?”

Adrian’s eyes filled slightly.

For years, people had only seen him as a businessman.

A man with power.

A man without feelings.

But this little girl saw something else.

She saw family.

He picked up the pencil.

And for the first time in many years

Adrian smiled.

But across the city

Someone watched the news about Camila’s disappearance from the park.

Someone who knew the truth was getting closer.

Elena Hayes stood inside her office.

Looking at an old photograph of Daniel.

“You should have stayed gone.”

She whispered.

Then she made a phone call.

“Find Camila.”

A pause.

May you like

“And this time
”

“Make sure the truth disappears with her.”
