Chapter 6 - THE FIRST PIECE OF THE TRUTH

Camila never imagined her life would change because of a white envelope.
One week ago, she was fighting to survive.
Now she was standing inside one of the most powerful families in the country.
But she still felt like the same woman sitting on that bench.
The woman who had no idea if tomorrow would come.
Adrian noticed.
âYou donât have to pretend youâre comfortable here.â
Camila looked at him.
âIâm not.â
He almost smiled.
âAt least youâre honest.â
âI donât belong here.â
Adrian shook his head.
âYou belong wherever your daughter feels safe.â
Those words stayed with her.
Because that was the only thing that mattered.
Isabella.
Not money.
Not the Hayes name.
Not revenge.
Just her daughter.
Later that afternoon, Adrian took Camila to a private office.
On the desk was a small box.
âThis belonged to Daniel.â
Camila stopped.
Her breathing changed.
âWhy do you have it?â
âBecause he left it before he disappeared.â
Adrian opened the box.
Inside were letters.
Hundreds of them.
Camila touched one.
âAre theseâŠâ
âLetters he wrote to you.â
Her eyes filled instantly.
âHe wrote them?â
âYes.â
âHe believed one day you would read them.â
Camila picked up the first letter.
The date was four years ago.
Before Isabellaâs birth.
Her hands trembled as she opened it.
My love,
If you are reading this, something went wrong.
I need you to know one thing.
I never left you.
I never stopped loving you.
Camila covered her mouth.
Tears fell onto the paper.
Danielâs words continued.
I found out my family was lying.
They tried to separate us.
But I promised myself I would come back.
I promised I would meet our daughter.
I promised I would protect both of you.
Camila closed her eyes.
For years, she had cried because she thought Daniel abandoned her.
Now she was crying because he had tried to return.
Adrian stood quietly.
Giving her space.
Then Camila noticed something.
A sentence at the bottom of the letter.
Someone else signed it.
Someone she didnât recognize.
She looked closer.
âWhat is this?â
Adrian took the paper.
His expression changed.
âThatâs impossible.â
âWhat?â
He stared at the signature.
Because it belonged to someone who was supposed to be dead.
Camila looked at him.
âWho signed it?â
Adrian slowly raised his eyes.
âMy fatherâs former assistant.â
âThomas Reed.â
Camila frowned.
âWhy does that matter?â
Adrianâs face became serious.
âBecause Thomas Reed disappeared the same night Daniel vanished.â
The room became silent.
Two people.
Two disappearances.
One secret.
Camila looked at the letters.
Someone had spent years hiding the truth.
But now the pieces were finally coming together.
Then Michael rushed into the room.
âAdrian.â
Everyone turned.
His face was pale.
âWe found Daniel.â
Camila stopped breathing.
âWhat?â
Michael looked at her.
âHeâs alive.â
The words she had waited four years to hear.
The words she dreamed about.
But Michaelâs next sentence destroyed the moment.
âHeâs been alive this entire time.â
Camila stared.
âWhere?â
Michael hesitated.
âTwenty miles outside the city.â
âWho has been keeping him there?â
Nobody answered.
Because they already knew.
The truth was finally coming.
May you like
And whoever had hidden Daniel for four yearsâŠ
Was about to lose everything.
