Chapter 10 - THE FATHER WHO HELD THE FINAL SECRET

The entire room froze.

Nobody moved.

Nobody spoke.

Because the man appearing on the giant screen was supposed to be gone.

Victor Hayes.

The founder of the Hayes empire.

The man whose disappearance had been reported years ago.

The man whose death had allowed Elena to slowly take control of the family business.

But there he was.

Alive.

Older.

Sitting in a quiet room somewhere unknown.

Daniel stared at the screen.

His face turned pale.

“Father
”

The word came out almost like a memory.

Adrian looked completely shocked.

“He’s alive?”

Michael stepped closer.

“I thought he died.”

Camila looked at Elena.

And for the first time

She saw real fear.

Not anger.

Not arrogance.

Fear.

Victor looked directly into the camera.

“I know the truth.”

His voice was weak.

But every word carried power.

“I know what happened to Daniel.”

“I know what happened to Camila.”

“And I know who destroyed this family.”

The reporters immediately started shouting questions.

The room became chaos.

But nobody looked away.

Because everyone wanted the same answer.

Who was responsible?

Victor continued.

“Four years ago, I discovered that someone inside my family was stealing company funds.”

“I planned to expose them.”

“But before I could
”

“My son disappeared.”

Daniel clenched his fists.

Victor looked down.

“I made a terrible mistake.”

“I trusted the wrong person.”

The screen changed.

Documents appeared.

Financial records.

Hidden accounts.

Secret transfers.

All connected to one person.

Elena Hayes.

The room erupted.

“No
”

Elena whispered.

For the first time, her perfect image cracked.

Victor continued.

“Elena believed Daniel would destroy everything she wanted.”

“She believed kindness was weakness.”

“She believed power was more important than family.”

Daniel looked at his sister.

“Why?”

Elena didn’t answer.

Because the truth was already visible.

Victor looked at Camila.

“Camila.”

She looked surprised.

“I am sorry.”

The room became silent.

“My family caused you unimaginable pain.”

“You lost years with the man you loved.”

“Your daughter lost years with her father.”

Camila lowered her eyes.

She never expected an apology.

Especially not from someone like him.

Victor continued.

“But there is something else you need to know.”

Daniel looked confused.

“What else?”

Victor took a deep breath.

“The night you disappeared
”

Everyone waited.

“Daniel was not the only person targeted.”

Camila felt a chill.

“What does that mean?”

Victor looked at her.

“The person who attacked Daniel was trying to erase everyone connected to the truth.”

Daniel stepped forward.

“Who helped them?”

Victor’s eyes moved toward Elena.

“She did.”

Elena shook her head.

“No.”

Victor continued.

“Elena hired people to scare Camila into leaving.”

“She wanted Daniel alone.”

“But when Daniel refused
”

“She created a plan that made him disappear.”

Daniel looked devastated.

“You were my sister.”

Elena finally spoke.

Her voice was cold.

“You never understood.”

Daniel stared at her.

“Understand what?”

“I spent my entire life watching you receive everything.”

“The love.”

“The respect.”

“The future.”

Her expression hardened.

“I was always second.”

Daniel shook his head.

“You destroyed people because you were jealous?”

Elena looked away.

“No.”

She whispered.

“Because I was tired of being invisible.”

Camila looked at her.

And for a moment

She almost felt sorry.

Almost.

But then she remembered Isabella sleeping on a park bench.

She remembered every cold night.

Every tear.

Every moment she had wondered if she failed as a mother.

Some pain could not be forgotten.

The police entered the room.

Elena finally realized.

Everything was over.

As she was escorted away, she looked at Camila.

“This isn’t finished.”

Camila held Isabella’s hand.

“Yes.”

She replied.

“It is.”

But Camila was wrong.

Because the truth had been revealed.

Yet one mystery remained.

Where had Daniel really been for four years?
