CHAPTER 6 — THE TRUTH COMES OUT
The recording changed everything.
Victoria’s lies started falling apart.
The social worker reviewed the evidence.
The documents.
The recording.
The photographs.
Everything.
For the first time, Victoria had no perfect explanation.
No fake tears.
No innocent smile.
Just silence.
But Sarah knew something.
People like Victoria didn't give up easily.
And she was right.
Two days later, Sarah received a letter.
A lawsuit.
Victoria was accusing her of destroying her reputation.
Sarah stared at the paper.
"You have got to be kidding me."
Her lawyer looked serious.
"She’s trying to control the story."
"After everything she did?"
"People sometimes attack when they have something to hide."
Sarah looked at Ethan.
He was sitting on the floor drawing.
She walked over.
"What are you drawing?"
He smiled.
"Us."
Sarah looked at the picture.
A house.
A mother.
A little boy.
And a big sun above them.
For the first time in days...
She smiled.
Then Ethan pointed at the corner.
"But I forgot something."
"What?"
He added another person.
A woman standing far away.
Sarah looked at the drawing.
"Who is that?"
Ethan became quiet.
"Victoria."
Sarah felt a chill.
"Why did you draw her far away?"
The little boy looked down.
"Because she said she would come back."
Sarah froze.
"What?"
Ethan whispered:
"She said she wasn't finished."
That night, Sarah locked every door.
She checked every window.
She stayed beside Ethan until he fell asleep.
But at midnight...
A shadow appeared outside the house.
Someone was standing in the snow.
Watching.
Sarah woke up.
She walked toward the window.
Her blood turned cold.
Because outside...
Under the streetlight...
Was Victoria.
And she wasn't alone.
Standing beside her was a man Sarah had never seen before.
Victoria looked directly at the house.
Then smiled.
Sarah slowly stepped back.
Because she realized something terrifying.
May you like
The snow incident wasn't the whole story.
It was only the beginning.
