CHAPTER 14 — A MOTHER'S FINAL FIGHT

Victoria thought she had won.

That was her biggest mistake.

She thought Sarah was still the woman who cried quietly.

The woman who trusted people too easily.

The woman who always tried to see the good in everyone.

She was wrong.

Because something changes inside a mother when someone tries to destroy her child.

Sarah walked into the courtroom the next day differently.

No fear.

No hesitation.

She carried the box.

The flash drive.

The documents.

Everything.

Victoria saw it.

And for the first time...

She looked scared.

Sarah’s lawyer stood.

"Your Honor, we have new evidence."

The judge looked surprised.

"Evidence of what?"

"Fraud, manipulation, and an attempt to remove a child from his biological mother for financial gain."

The courtroom became tense.

Victoria immediately stood.

"This is a lie."

Sarah looked at her.

"No."

Her voice was calm.

"This is what you are afraid of."

The evidence was presented.

The hidden documents.

The recording.

The video.

The proof that Victoria and Daniel had planned everything.

The judge watched the recording.

Victoria's own voice filled the room.

"We don't need the child."

Nobody spoke.

Victoria looked around.

She had nowhere to run.

Daniel suddenly stood.

"This is not what it looks like."

Sarah looked at him.

"Really?"

Daniel became angry.

"You think you know everything?"

The judge ordered him to sit.

But Daniel lost control.

"You have no idea how much this family deserves!"

Sarah stared.

"What family?"

Daniel pointed at Ethan.

"That boy has money because of us!"

The courtroom went silent.

And everyone heard it.

The truth.

Not an accident.

Not a misunderstanding.

A plan.

The police entered moments later.

Daniel realized what was happening.

Victoria looked at him.

"You said you had this handled."

Daniel looked back.

"You ruined everything."

Sarah watched them turn against each other.

The partnership.

The lies.

The fake smiles.

Everything collapsed.

As police escorted them away, Victoria stopped.

She looked at Sarah.

"You think you won?"

Sarah held Ethan's hand.

"I did."

Victoria smiled sadly.

"No."

She leaned closer.

"You survived."

Sarah frowned.

"What does that mean?"

Victoria whispered:

"You still don't know who started all of this."

Sarah felt a chill.

"What are you talking about?"

But Victoria was already walking away.

And for the first time...

Sarah wondered.

May you like

Was Victoria really the beginning?

Or was she just another piece of someone else's game?
