Chapter 7 - THE WOMAN WHO KNEW TOO MUCH

Sofia Bellini knew her secret could not stay hidden forever.
She had protected Mia for years.
She had protected Isabella’s final wish.
But now Damiano knew too much.
And the people who wanted the truth buried were getting desperate.
That evening, Sofia received a message.
One sentence.
“Tell him nothing, or your daughter disappears.”
Her hands started shaking.
Damiano noticed immediately.
“What happened?”
Sofia quickly hid the phone.
“Nothing.”
Damiano stared at her.
He hated lies.
Especially from people he cared about.
“You are afraid.”
Sofia looked at him.
“You don’t understand.”
“Then explain.”
She looked toward Mia.
“I was there the night your wife died.”
The room became silent.
Damiano’s expression changed.
“You said you were only a maid.”
“I was.”
“Then why were you there?”
Sofia took a deep breath.
“Because Isabella asked me to protect something.”
“What?”
Sofia looked at Mia.
“Her.”
Damiano froze.
“She knew something bad would happen.”
“She knew someone close to you was planning betrayal.”
Damiano’s hands tightened.
“Who?”
Sofia shook her head.
“She never told me.”
“Because she believed the person would kill anyone who knew.”
Damiano stepped closer.
“You kept this from me for three years.”
“I was protecting your daughter.”
The words hit him.
Because deep down…
He knew she was right.
Suddenly, every phone inside the mansion rang at the same time.
The guards looked confused.
Rafael answered.
His face changed.
“Boss…”
“What?”
“The city police just received evidence accusing you.”
Damiano frowned.
“Accusing me of what?”
Rafael looked at the screen.
“Murder.”
The room went silent.
A photo appeared.
Damiano standing near Isabella on the night she died.
