Chapter 13 - THE TRUTH THAT CHANGED EVERYTHING
Nobody moved.
Nobody breathed.
The words remained hanging in the air.
“Mia’s real father.”
Damiano stared at Silvio.
“You are lying.”
Silvio smiled.
“Am I?”
Damiano stepped forward.
“Speak carefully.”
Silvio reached into his coat.
He pulled out an old document.
“This was hidden for three years.”
Rafael immediately moved.
But Damiano stopped him.
“Let him talk.”
Silvio handed over the document.
Damiano read it.
His face slowly changed.
Because the document was a DNA report.
And the name on it shocked him.
Sofia Bellini.
And another name.
A man Damiano knew.
A man who died years ago.
His own brother.
Marco Verrone.
The room became silent.
Mia looked confused.
Damiano looked at Sofia.
“Is this true?”
Sofia’s eyes filled with tears.
“I wanted to tell you.”
“When?”
“When I knew you could protect her.”
Damiano stepped back.
For the first time…
He felt lost.
Mia was not just connected to his past.
She was part of his family.
His brother’s daughter.
His niece.
Not his daughter.
The little girl looked at him.
“Are you still my daddy?”
The question destroyed him.
Because the answer was complicated.
Damiano knelt.
“Mia…”
Her eyes became wet.
“I don’t care about blood.”
She whispered.
“I just want you.”
Damiano felt something break inside him.
Because she chose him.
Not because of his name.
Not because of his power.
Because he made her feel safe.
He pulled her close.
“I am here.”
Silvio watched silently.
Then he laughed.
“You see?”
“This is why you are weak now.”
Damiano slowly looked up.
“No.”
His voice became cold.
“This is why I am stronger.”
Silvio’s smile disappeared.
Because he finally understood.
Damiano Verrone was not protecting a weakness.
