The morning after the legendary ballroom incident, the entire city was talking about one name.
Damiano Verrone.
The mafia king who never showed weakness.

Mia sat on an old sofa beside her mother, holding the same red paper heart she had carried into the mansion.
Her mother, Sofia Bellini, looked terrified.
She had spent the entire night crying.
Not because Damiano had hurt them.
But because she knew the truth.

“Mia…”
Sofia whispered.
“You should never have gone there.”
The little girl looked confused.
“But mommy…”
“He looked lonely.”
Sofia froze.
Those four words hurt more than anything.

But nobody had ever noticed how alone he really was.
“I just wanted someone to come to my school show.”
Mia lowered her head.
“Everyone else has someone.”
Sofia pulled her daughter close.
“You don’t know what kind of world you stepped into.”
Mia looked up.
“Is he a bad man?”
Sofia stayed silent.
Because she knew the answer was complicated.
Damiano Verrone was dangerous.
But he had never been cruel to them.
Not once.
Meanwhile, inside the Verrone estate, Damiano stood in front of the giant windows overlooking the city.
Rafael Conti entered the room.
“We found her.”
Damiano turned around.
“Her name?”
“Mia Bellini.”
Damiano waited.
“And?”
Rafael hesitated.
“She is the daughter of Sofia Bellini.”
Damiano’s expression changed.
“Sofia?”
“Yes.”
Rafael placed a file on the table.
“She worked as a maid at several wealthy houses.”
Damiano opened the folder.
The first picture he saw was Mia smiling.
Something inside him tightened.
Then he saw the next page.
His eyes became colder.
Because there was a detail nobody expected.
Sofia Bellini had once worked inside the Verrone estate.
Three years ago.
The same year Damiano lost everything.
The same year his wife died.
The same year his heart turned into stone.
Damiano looked at Rafael.
“Why didn’t I know about this?”
Rafael swallowed.
“Because someone made sure you never found out.”
Silence filled the room.
Damiano slowly closed the file.
“Find out who.”
Rafael nodded.
“And Mia?”
Damiano looked at the picture again.
For a moment, the mafia king disappeared.
Only a man remained.
“She stays under my protection.”
Rafael looked surprised.
“You’re serious?”
Damiano stared at him.
“I made a promise.”
A promise made in front of hundreds.
A promise nobody believed he would keep.
