Chapter 2 - THE MAFIA KING’S FIRST MORNING AS A FATHER

Mia arrived at the Verrone mansion the next morning.

She stood outside the massive iron gates.

Her eyes widened.

The house looked like a castle.

Guards stood everywhere.

Luxury cars filled the driveway.

People wearing expensive suits moved quickly around the property.

Mia held her mother’s hand tightly.

“I think we are in the wrong place.”

Sofia almost smiled.

“Maybe.”

Then the front doors opened.

Damiano Verrone walked outside.

The guards immediately lowered their heads.

Mia looked up at him.

“You’re really here.”

Damiano stopped.

“Yes.”

“You’re really going to be my daddy?”

Every guard nearby suddenly looked away.

Nobody knew how to react.

Damiano was feared by everyone.

But this little girl spoke to him like he was just a normal person.

Damiano slowly knelt.

“For one day.”

Mia frowned.

“But yesterday you said tomorrow you would be my father.”

Damiano was silent.

The little girl had caught him.

For the first time in years…

Someone challenged him without fear.

A small smile almost appeared on his face.

“You remember everything?”

“Yes.”

Damiano looked at Sofia.

“She is smart.”

Sofia lowered her eyes.

“She has always been.”

The day began awkwardly.

Damiano had no idea how to behave around a child.

He knew how to negotiate with criminals.

He knew how to control entire organizations.

But he did not know how to make a little girl laugh.

At breakfast, Mia stared at the mountain of food.

“Do you always eat alone?”

Damiano looked at her.

“Yes.”

“Why?”

He had no answer.

Mia looked around the huge dining room.

“This house is big.”

“Yes.”

“But it feels empty.”

The words hit harder than any enemy’s attack.

Damiano looked away.

Later that afternoon, Damiano took Mia shopping for her school show.

The entire city noticed.

The mafia king was walking through a children’s store.

Nobody believed their eyes.

Mia picked up a small blue dress.

“Can I have this?”

Damiano nodded.

“Take it.”

Her eyes widened.

“Really?”

“Yes.”

She smiled.

And for the first time in years…

Damiano Verrone smiled too.

But someone was watching from across the street.

A man holding a phone.

A man sending pictures to someone else.

The message was simple.

“Damiano Verrone has a weakness.”

May you like

A reply came seconds later.

“Then we destroy the girl.”
