Chapter 6 - Emily Opens Her Eyes
The hospital went into emergency lockdown.
Ryan was gone.
Police searched every hallway.
Emily finally woke completely.
But waking up brought pain.
Not physical pain.
Emotional pain.
Ethan held her hand.
“Mom, I’m sorry.”
Emily looked at him.
“For what?”
“I couldn’t save you.”
Emily cried.
“You saved my life.”
The boy hugged her.
For the first time in twelve days, Emily felt safe.
But the danger wasn’t over.
Detective Mason arrived with terrible news.
“Ryan escaped.”
Emily looked at him.
“How?”
“He had help.”
Everyone became silent.
“Someone inside the hospital helped him.”
Emily immediately understood.
Ryan still had allies.
Then Ms. Parker placed a folder on the bed.
“There’s something else.”
Emily opened it.
Inside was a document.
A document with her signature.
Her eyes widened.
“That’s impossible.”
Ms. Parker nodded.
“Someone forged your will.”
And at the bottom of the page was one name.
