Chapter 3 - The Message That Changed Everything

The hospital room became a battlefield of silence.
Nobody moved.
Nobody spoke.
The message on Claire’s phone was still glowing.
“She knows. Finish it tonight.”
Detective Mason looked at Ryan.
“Would you like to explain?”
Ryan’s face was pale.
“That’s not what it looks like.”
Ethan stepped back.
For the first time, he looked at his father like he was a stranger.
“You were going to hurt Mom again.”
Ryan’s eyes softened.
“Ethan, listen to me…”
“No.”
The boy’s voice cracked.
“You lied to me.”
Emily felt her heart break.
Her son had lost the person he trusted most.
Ms. Parker quietly took the phone from the detective.
“This message came from Ryan’s number.”
Claire immediately shook her head.
“I didn’t write that.”
“Then who did?”
Nobody answered.
Then Ryan suddenly grabbed his jacket.
Detective Mason blocked the door.
“You’re not leaving.”
Ryan stared at him.
“You have no proof.”
The detective smiled slightly.
“We have more than you think.”
He pulled out another photo.
A security image.
A man standing beside Emily’s car the night before the crash.
Emily couldn’t see the picture.
But she knew from everyone’s reaction…
It was someone they recognized.
Ms. Parker whispered:
“Ryan…”
The room went cold.
May you like
