Chapter 9 - THE TRUTH INSIDE THE FOUNDATION

Nobody looked at Vivienne Beaumont the same way anymore.
For years, she had been the woman everyone respected.
The mother behind the empire.
The person who kept the Beaumont family together.
But Marcus now saw something different.
Not strength.
Not intelligence.
Fear.
“You paid him.”
Marcus’s voice echoed through the conservatory.
Vivienne smiled.
“You think a simple accusation changes anything?”
Marcus held up the documents.
“No.”
“But evidence does.”
Vivienne looked at Claire.
“You really think your father can save you?”
Claire stepped back.
Marcus noticed.
Even now.
Even after everything.
Vivienne still tried to intimidate her.
Marcus moved beside Claire.
“He already did.”
Vivienne laughed softly.
“You don’t understand.”
“No one survives against the Beaumont family.”
Marcus looked at her.
“Daniel did.”
The smile disappeared.
That was the first real reaction.
And Marcus saw it.
Daniel Cross was the one person Vivienne couldn’t control.
The one mistake she couldn’t erase.
The one ghost that came back.
Marcus opened the Project Mirror file.
Inside were years of hidden transactions.
Payments.
Threats.
Blackmail records.
Then he found something unexpected.
A personal note.
Written by Daniel.
Marcus read silently.
Then his face changed.
Claire noticed.
“What is it?”
Marcus looked at her.
“It’s about you.”
Claire froze.
“What?”
Daniel’s note explained everything.
He had discovered that Claire’s marriage to Preston was not accidental.
The Beaumont family had chosen her.
Not because Preston loved her.
Because Claire’s father had connections.
Because her family name provided access.
Because she was useful.
Claire covered her mouth.
“No.”
Marcus continued reading.
The Beaumonts had planned everything.
The wedding.
The business partnerships.
The public image.
Claire was never treated as family.
She was treated as an asset.
A piece on a chessboard.
Preston finally exploded.
“You’re twisting everything.”
Marcus looked at him.
“Did you love her?”
Preston opened his mouth.
Nothing came out.
Marcus nodded.
“That’s what I thought.”
Claire stared at her husband.
The man she had defended.
The man she had trusted.
The man she believed would change.
Gone.
The illusion was gone.
Then the security system suddenly shut down.
The red lights disappeared.
The doors unlocked.
Everyone moved at once.
Panic.
Confusion.
Opportunity.
Preston ran.
Marcus immediately followed.
“Preston!”
The crowd separated.
Preston reached the main entrance.
But before he opened the door…
he stopped.
Because standing outside was someone nobody expected.
Daniel Cross.
Alive.
Real.
Holding a folder.
Preston’s face lost all color.
Daniel looked at him.
“Hello, Preston.”
A long silence.
Then Daniel said:
“I think we need to talk about what you did six years ago.”
Marcus stepped outside.
Claire followed.
The entire Beaumont family stood frozen.
Because the man they buried…
had returned.
And he was carrying the one thing they feared most.
May you like
The truth.
