Chapter 13 - THE FINAL BETRAYAL

The Moretti mansion had survived storms.

It had survived enemies.

It had survived decades of violence hidden behind expensive walls.

But nothing had ever shaken it like the moment Anthony Moretti walked through the front door.

He didn’t force his way in.

He didn’t shout.

He simply entered.

Like he still belonged there.

Like he owned the place.

Behind him stood armed men dressed in black suits.

The same kind of men Dominic had spent his life commanding.

Except tonight…

They weren’t following him.

They were following Anthony.

Dominic stood at the top of the staircase.

His expression was calm.

Too calm.

Anthony smiled.

“Look at you.”

He slowly looked around the mansion.

“Your father would be proud.”

Dominic stared at him.

“My father would be ashamed.”

The smile disappeared.

Only for a second.

But Dominic saw it.

Anthony stepped closer.

“You really believe that girl?”

His eyes moved toward Hannah.

“The girl who walked into your home pretending to be a maid?”

Hannah remained silent.

Dominic noticed.

She wasn’t scared of Anthony.

She was remembering him.

“You knew my mother.”

Anthony looked at her.

“Yes.”

The room became colder.

“You were there.”

Anthony smiled.

“I was everywhere.”

Dominic’s hands tightened.

“You killed her.”

Anthony laughed softly.

“No.”

He looked at Hannah.

“Your mother destroyed herself.”

The words were cruel.

Hannah’s face changed.

But Dominic stepped forward.

“Choose your next words carefully.”

Anthony looked amused.

“Still protecting strangers?”

Dominic’s voice dropped.

“She’s not a stranger.”

That sentence surprised everyone.

Even Hannah.

Anthony shook his head.

“You really are your father’s son.”

Dominic stared.

“You say that like it’s an insult.”

“It is.”

A long silence followed.

Then Anthony pulled out a small folder.

“I came here because I wanted to give you a chance.”

Dominic didn’t move.

“A chance for what?”

“To walk away.”

Anthony tossed the folder onto the table.

Inside were documents.

Bank accounts.

Transfer records.

Names.

Dominic looked through them.

His expression changed.

Because one name appeared again and again.

Dominic Moretti.

His own signature.

His own approval.

Impossible.

“I didn’t sign these.”

Anthony smiled.

“You did.”

Dominic looked up.

“When?”

“Before you knew what you were signing.”

The truth hit him.

Someone had used him.

His entire empire.

His reputation.

His name.

Anthony leaned closer.

“Your father built this family.”

A pause.

“I learned how to control it.”

Dominic stared.

“And now?”

Anthony smiled.

“Now I’m taking it back.”

Suddenly, a gunshot exploded.

Everyone froze.

But the bullet wasn’t aimed at Dominic.

It hit the wall beside Hannah.

A warning.

Anthony looked at her.

“Next time, it won’t miss.”

Dominic’s eyes turned cold.

The room changed instantly.

Because Anthony had just made the one mistake Dominic would never forgive.

He threatened someone Dominic cared about.

Dominic stepped forward.

“You came here thinking I was still the boy you raised.”

His voice became quiet.

“You forgot something.”

Anthony watched him.

“What?”

Dominic looked around the mansion.

“This is my house.”

A pause.

May you like

“And you’re the enemy inside it.”

The battle had started.
