Chapter 11 - THE FINAL PIECE OF THE PUZZLE

The doctors fought desperately.

Noah’s condition had changed again.

Michael stood outside the room, watching machines and doctors surround his son.

His hands shook.

Not from fear.

From rage.

“How?”

He turned toward Emily.

“How is this happening again?”

Emily looked at the monitors.

“She planned for this.”

Michael looked at her.

“What?”

Emily walked closer.

“The first reaction was only the beginning.”

The room went quiet.

Daniel looked at her.

“You figured it out.”

Emily nodded.

“She didn’t poison him once.”

Michael’s blood ran cold.

“She used something delayed.”

Frank stared.

“You mean she knew the first treatment would fail?”

“Yes.”

Emily looked at Michael.

“She wanted everyone to believe Noah was improving.”

Michael clenched his jaw.

“And then?”

Emily looked toward Victoria.

“Then she triggered the second reaction.”

Everyone turned.

Victoria remained calm.

Michael walked toward her.

“How?”

Victoria smiled.

“You’re finally asking the right questions.”

He grabbed the table beside her.

“Tell me.”

She looked at him.

“Do you remember Sarah?”

Michael froze.

His wife.

Noah’s mother.

“Don’t say her name.”

Victoria ignored him.

“Sarah was weak.”

Daniel stepped forward.

“Watch your mouth.”

Victoria looked at him.

“She couldn’t handle this family.”

Michael’s eyes filled with anger.

“My wife died because of you.”

Victoria’s face changed.

Only slightly.

But enough.

A crack.

“You have no idea what happened that night.”

Michael stared.

“What does that mean?”

Victoria looked away.

“Sarah discovered the truth.”

“What truth?”

Daniel answered.

“She found out your mother was stealing from the company.”

Michael froze.

Victoria looked at him.

“Don’t listen to him.”

But Michael didn’t move.

Because suddenly everything connected.

The arguments.

The missing money.

The secrets.

The accident.

“My wife knew.”

Victoria said nothing.

Michael whispered:

“You killed Sarah.”

The entire hallway went silent.

Victoria looked at him.

Then smiled.

“No.”

A pause.

“She killed herself trying to expose me.”

Daniel stepped forward.

“That’s a lie.”

Victoria looked at him.

“You were never there.”

Daniel’s face changed.

Michael noticed.

“What is she talking about?”

Daniel didn’t answer.

Michael looked at him.

“Daniel.”

A long silence.

Then Daniel finally said:

“I was there.”

Michael froze.

“What?”

Daniel looked broken.

“I saw Sarah that night.”

The world stopped.

“Why didn’t you tell me?”

Daniel looked away.

“Because she begged me not to.”

“Why?”

Daniel swallowed.

“Because she knew someone was listening.”

Michael looked toward Victoria.

Victoria’s expression changed.

Only for a second.

But Michael saw it.

Fear.

Then Emily suddenly shouted:

“Wait!”

Everyone turned.

She was staring at Victoria’s hand.

“Your ring.”

Victoria looked down.

“What about it?”

Emily stepped closer.

“That’s not jewelry.”

Michael frowned.

“What is it?”

May you like

Emily whispered:

“A trigger.”
