Chapter 11 - THE CONFESSION

For three seconds, nobody moved.

The warehouse was completely silent.

Then Camille noticed the phone in Adeline’s hand.

Her confident expression disappeared.

“You recorded that?”

Adeline did not answer.

She simply kept the phone pointed toward her.

Camille looked at Nico.

“You think this changes anything?”

Nico stared at her.

“Yes.”

She laughed.

“You still don’t understand how this works.”

“No.”

His voice was calm.

“For the first time, I do.”

Camille stepped closer.

“You have no idea what you’re fighting against.”

Nico looked around the warehouse.

At Marcus.

At Camille.

At the people who had spent months controlling his life.

Then he looked at Adeline.

The one person who had no reason to protect him.

But did it anyway.

“You made one mistake.”

Camille frowned.

“What?”

“You thought losing my legs meant losing my power.”

The words hit her.

Because that was exactly what she believed.

Before the accident, Nico controlled everything.

After the accident, she saw an opportunity.

A weakened man.

A vulnerable man.

A man who needed help.

But she never understood something.

Nico did not become weak.

He became careful.

And careful people noticed everything.

Marcus slowly stepped forward.

“You don’t understand the situation, Nico.”

Nico looked at him.

“I understand perfectly.”

“No, you don’t.”

Marcus sighed.

“The world you built was already falling apart.”

“You helped destroy it.”

Marcus looked away.

For the first time, he looked ashamed.

But Adeline noticed something.

He was not the person in control.

Camille was.

“Why?” Adeline asked.

Everyone looked at her.

She stared at Camille.

“Why would you do this?”

Camille smiled.

“Because people like Nico don’t understand love.”

Nico’s face hardened.

“You never loved me.”

Camille laughed.

“Love?”

She shook her head.

“Love is for people who have nothing to lose.”

She pointed at him.

“I saw what happened after your accident.”

Her voice became colder.

“Your employees doubted you. Your family questioned you. Your enemies waited.”

She stepped closer.

“You were no longer untouchable.”

Nico stared at her.

“So you decided to finish me.”

“Yes.”

The answer came instantly.

No hesitation.

No regret.

Adeline felt sick.

Camille continued.

“You were supposed to sign everything over.”

“What if I refused?”

Camille smiled.

“Then you would slowly lose everything.”

Nico looked at her.

“My health.”

“My company.”

“My freedom.”

She said nothing.

Because silence confirmed everything.

Then sirens sounded outside.

Camille turned.

“What?”

Adeline lowered her phone.

“You talked long enough.”

Camille’s face changed.

“You called the police?”

“No.”

Adeline looked at Nico.

“He did.”

Everyone turned.

Nico’s eyes remained fixed on Camille.

“I stopped trusting people months ago.”

A pause.

“So I started recording them.”

The warehouse doors opened.

Police officers rushed inside.

Camille stood frozen.

Because the game she thought she controlled

was over.

But before officers reached her, Marcus suddenly moved.

Not toward the exit.

Toward Nico.

And he whispered:

“I’m sorry.”

May you like

Then he pushed something into Nico’s hand.

A small flash drive.
