Chapter 10 - THE WOMAN BEHIND THE MASK

Camille smiled.

Like this was all a game.

Adeline stopped immediately.

“What did you do?”

Camille tilted her head.

“I’m disappointed.”

“Where is my brother?”

“He’s right there.”

Wes was sitting in a chair.

Scared.

But alive.

Adeline took a step forward.

“Let him go.”

Camille laughed.

“You still don’t understand.”

“Understand what?”

“That you walked into a world you don’t belong in.”

Nico entered behind her.

Camille’s smile disappeared.

“You brought him.”

Nico looked at her.

“You kidnapped a child.”

“I needed insurance.”

The words made Adeline sick.

“Insurance?”

Camille shrugged.

“You were getting too close.”

Nico’s eyes narrowed.

“To what?”

Camille looked at him.

“To the truth.”

Silence.

Then Nico said:

“Tell me.”

Camille laughed.

“You really think knowing everything changes something?”

“Yes.”

“Why?”

“Because once I know the truth
”

His voice became colder.

“I can destroy the people who lied to me.”

For the first time, Camille looked uncertain.

But only briefly.

“You always were arrogant.”

“No.”

Nico looked around the warehouse.

“I was blind.”

Adeline noticed something.

A man standing in the shadows.

Marcus.

Her stomach dropped.

“So both of you?”

Marcus stepped forward.

“I’m sorry, Nico.”

“Sorry?”

Nico stared at him.

“You helped her.”

Marcus looked away.

“I did what was necessary.”

“Necessary?”

Nico laughed bitterly.

“You tried to take my life.”

Camille interrupted.

“Enough.”

She walked closer.

“You want the truth?”

Everyone became silent.

Camille smiled.

“The accident wasn’t supposed to leave you alive.”

Adeline stopped breathing.

Nico stared at her.

“What?”

Camille continued.

“The plan was simple.”

Her voice was calm.

“Remove you. Take control. Move on.”

Nico’s face changed.

The pain in his eyes was not physical.

It was betrayal.

The woman he planned to marry had been waiting for him to disappear.

But then Camille made one mistake.

She smiled.

And Nico saw it.

The confidence.

The arrogance.

The belief that she had already won.

He looked at Adeline.

Then quietly said:

“Record everything.”

Adeline understood immediately.

She pulled out her phone.

Camille’s expression changed.

Because for the first time

she realized the man she thought was powerless
