Chapter 6 - The Person Everyone Trusted

Everyone in the wedding building was questioned.

Guests.

Workers.

Security.

Family members.

But Emma only had one question.

Who had access to her father’s secrets?

Daniel sat across from her.

For the first time, he stopped hiding.

“Your father trusted very few people.”

Emma looked at him.

“Who?”

Daniel hesitated.

Then said:

“Your mother.”

Emma froze.

“No.”

“I’m not saying she did it.”

“Then why mention her?”

“Because she knew everything.”

Emma stood up.

“You’re accusing my mother?”

“No.”

Daniel looked serious.

“I’m saying someone close to your father betrayed him.”

Emma looked through the glass window.

Her mother was outside.

Talking to police.

Crying.

Looking broken.

Could she really know something?

The thought hurt.

Then Emma noticed something.

A small detail.

Something she had ignored.

Her mother was wearing a necklace.

A red necklace.

The same design.

Emma walked closer.

Her mother turned.

And immediately covered it.

Emma stopped.

“Mom…”

Her mother’s face changed.

“What?”

“Where did you get that necklace?”

Silence.

Too much silence.

Daniel stood behind Emma.

Because he saw it too.

Her mother looked down.

And whispered:

“Your father told me never to show you this.”

Emma’s heart raced.

“Show me what?”

Her mother slowly removed the necklace.

Inside was another metal capsule.

Emma stepped back.

“No…”

Her mother started crying.

“I was hoping you would never have to know.”

She opened it.

Inside was another memory card.

But this one had a date written on it.

The date of her father’s disappearance.

And below the date…

Three words.

“THE FINAL TRUTH.”

Emma looked at Daniel.

Daniel looked at the card.

And everyone realized the same thing.
